Alaves vs. Madrid: Eden Hazard & Karim Benzema inspire Los Blancos to a comfortable win

Alaves vs. Madrid: Eden Hazard & Karim Benzema inspire Los Blancos to a comfortable win. La Liga Results: Alaves 1-4 Real Madrid

Eden Hazard has scored his first LaLiga goal since the end of October.

Eden Hazard produces probably his finest display in White jersey in Real Madrid’s 4-1 win over Deportivo Alaves.

After a horrendous display on Wednesday against Alcoyano in Copa del Rey RO32, Real Madrid return to winning ways as Los Blancos close the gap on La Liga leaders to four points.

Madrid, who were without their coach Zinedine Zidane due to COVID-19, started the game brightly and got the deserved lead through Casemiro’s header inside 15 minutes. Four minutes before the break, Eden Hazard’s lovely flick was expertly finished by Karim Benzema.

Then in the dying minutes of the first half, Toni Kross’ long ball was well received by Hazard and the Belgian, beating the Alaves’ backline and the offside flag, made it 3-0.

The visitors started strongly after the restart and Joselu reduced their deficit with a thumping header just before the hour-mark. But midway through the second half, Karim Benzema made it 4-1 and put the game beyond any doubt.

Zidane’s assistant praises Hazard:

Zidane’s assistant Bettoni, who managed Los Blancos from the sidelined, praised Hazard and urged fans to keep patience with the former Chelsea playmaker: “He is creative and spontaneous. He’s had a tough year and a half with injuries. We need to have patience with him. Of course, that’s tough at Real Madrid, but we’re happy with him. I think he’ll get better with each match.”
