After being unable to convince Atletico Madrid to lower their €50m valuation of Partey, the Gunners have now turned their attentions close to home.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta was the part of the Manchester City side that tried and failed in its pursuit of Jorginho in 2018. The defensive midfielder ended up signing for the Blues from Napoli and has become an important part of the side this season.
Jorginho has captained Chelsea in both of their Premier League games so far this season and is in the long-term plans of manager Frank Lampard who reportedly wants to sell N’Golo Kante to raise funds for the signing of Declan Rice from West Ham.
While Arsenal continue their search for a defensive midfielder, it looks as if they will be bidding farewell to Lucas Torreira in the coming days. The Uruguayan international is yet to feature for the Gunners this season and is inching closer to a loan move to Atletico Madrid.
Manchester City have entered into talks with Sevilla over the potential signing of centre-back Jules Kounde, according to Evening Standard.
Pep Guardiola’s side have been linked with moves for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly and Atletico Madrid’s Jose Maria Gimenez over the past few months, with reports in Spain claiming that Atleti has rejected Man City’s £78m bid for their centre-half.
And now it is being reported that the Citizens have decided to wrap up the signing of 21-year-old Kounde who impressed for the Andalusian outfit last season.
The U-21 French star has a buy-out clause of €80m – a figure City weren’t willing to pay until a few days ago citing the financial impact of COVID-19 on the market. It remains to be seen whether they have accepted Sevilla’s valuation or have negotiated a lower transfer fee for the defender.
The North London outfit have turned to the Napoli star after being rebuffed in their attempts to sign England international Danny Ings from Southampton.
Tottenham have entered into talks with Napoli over the potential signing of Arkadiusz Milik, reports The Athletic [via Evening Standard].
Jose Mourinho has made it clear over the past few weeks that his side are in the transfer market for a new centre-forward. The Portuguese wants to sign a striker that could be a reliable deputy to Harry Kane and share the goal-scoring burden with the England striker.
Milik, 26, has entered the final 12 months of his existing deal with Napoli and is set to leave Sao Paolo after rejecting his side’ offers for a new contract.
The potential arrival of the Poland international will undoubtedly add more firepower to the Spurs squad given that he scored 11 times in 35 appearances for Gennaro Gatusso’s side last term.
