Arsenal injury update as Mikel Arteta gets boost ahead of FA Cup clash with Bournemouth

The Gunners will be looking to get back to winning ways after coming from behind to secure a well-deserved 2-2 draw at Chelsea in the Premier League on Tuesday.

Sokratis could be back in the Arsenal starting line-up for their Monday’s 4th round FA Cup clash with Bournemouth.

The Greek defender has missed the Gunners’ last two games due to illness with Shkodran Mustafi taking his place alongside David Luiz in the center of Arsenal’s defense.

His timely return from the treatment table is a welcome boost for manager Mikel Arteta who won’t be able to nominate the suspended David Luiz for the game.

The Brazilian defender was sent-off in the early stages of his side’s 2-2 draw with former club Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.

Full-back Kieran Tierney, who joined the Gunners from Scottish champions Celtic before the start of this season, remains sidelined due to the shoulder injury he sustained earlier this month.

The Scottish defender is making good progress after undergoing successful surgery, with the club hopeful that he’ll be able to do full training in two months.

Arteta would also be without striker and captain Pierre Emeric-Aubameyang as the Gabonese international serves the last game of his three-game ban.

He will watch the game from the stands alongside Reiss Nelson and Sead Kolasinac, with the duo still recovering from their respective injuries.

That would mean that the likes of Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Eddie Nketiah are expected to be nominated in the starting XI on Monday night.

With the Gunners having to deal with a long list of injuries and suspensions, their manager would be forced to field a significantly weakened side against the Cherries.

That means that Arteta would have little choice but to select almost the same XI that started the game against Chelsea last week.

Lacazette is expected to be the sole striker for the Gunners on Monday as he looks to end his barren run of 8 games without a goal in all competitions.

The French striker would try and take full advantage of the service provided by the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Mesut Ozil from the midfield, with Reiss Nelson expected to play as a right-winger.

Probable Arsenal starting XI vs. Bournemouth: Martinez; Saka, Sokratis, Mustafi, Bellerin; Xhaka, Guendouzi; Nelson, Ozil, Martinelli; Lacazette
