Arsenal look set to miss out on free transfer, Man United player accused of breaking quarantine rules and more

Arsenal look set to miss out on free transfer

Arsenal very close to sealing free transfer
The 27-year-old will be a free agent in the summer

Although it has seemed for a while that the player is on the verge of joining Arsenal, the free-transfer might not happen after all.

Arsenal are facing the risk of missing out on transfer target Layvin Kurzawa after reports emerge of PSG wanting to renew the left-back’s deal at the club.

Spanish newspaper Sport claims that Kurzawa, who was set to be a free agent in the summer, is seen by the reigning French champions as a good cover for Juan Bernat, who is their first-choice for the left-back role in the starting XI.

This realization has convinced the Parc des Princes residents to tie the player at the club by offering him a new long-term deal, scuttling any chances of the player joining Arsenal on a free-transfer at the end of the currently suspended campaign.

However, in a ray of hope for the Gunners, the report goes on to add that the player’s priority is to leave the Ligue 1 leaders, though he intends to secure a transfer to La Liga giants Barcelona where Kurzawa wants to serve as a backup to Jordi Alba.

Argentine news outlet El Dia reported earlier today that the Red Devils’ defender is being accused of breaking quarantine rules in his native country after an Instagram post from his brother.

Franco Rojo, brother of Marcus, posted a video on the social media platform that showed him and the Man United defender taking free kick shots against a goalkeeper.

The video also recorded at least three other players taking part in the kick about, with the cheers and laughs in the video making clear that there were other guys in the vicinity.

Rojo was sent to Estudiantes de La Plata on a season-long loan last August but has made it clear that he wants the Red Devils to extend his stay in Argentine for at least six more months.

Barcelona told to pay €40m to land transfer target

Despite the coronavirus pandemic taking a major aim at the club’s finances, the Catalan side continue to look at the signings they could make ahead of next season.

One of the players the club has been tracking for months is Lazio defender Luis Felipe, and they now know how much money they’d have to part with to land the 23-year-old.

Lazio snapped Felipe for a meager € 1m fee three years ago, but they now want as much as € 40m from any club which wishes to sign the in-form defender.

Sport [quoting La Gazzetta Dello Sport] further reports that the Serie A outfit are hopeful of convincing the player to sign a long-term deal that would allow them to generate even more money from his potential sale.
