Arsenal retain interest in PSG full-back after failed January transfer

Despite bringing in Kieran Tierney to strengthen the left side of their defense last summer, the Gunners are keen to secure the services of the PSG full-back.

Arsenal have refused to end their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain left-back Layvin Kurzawa after they failed to secure his signing in the January transfer window.

The 27-year-old left-back was the subject of transfer interest from the North London club after their first-choice full-back Kieran Tierney succumbed to a shoulder injury in the middle of December.

Tierney had to be subbed off only after 29 minutes against West Ham back in December and was replaced by youngster Bukayo Saka who has impressed with his performances since then.

However, even though Tierney has regained full fitness and is in contention to face Man City on Wednesday, that hasn’t stopped the Gunners from continuing their pursuit of Kurzawa.

Since he has now entered the final few months of his PSG contract, Kurzawa will leave the Parc des Princes as a free agent at the end of the season.

The Gunners have been monitoring the contract situation of the France international and would be willing to sign him on a free once the season ends, per France Football.

The report further claims that as their mini injury-crisis at left-back continues, Gunners are still ‘actively’ pursuing the signature of the 27-year-old.

Mikel Arteta’s side were unable to sign the Frenchman due to lack of funds in January, while Juventus, who were also keeping tabs on the player, reportedly pulled out of a swap deal that would have seen Mattio De Sciglio going the other way.

The report linking the Gunners with another move for Kurzawa has come at a time when one English newspaper has claimed that they are ready to cut their losses on Tierney.

The Sun reports that having seen the Scotland international made only 11 appearances in all competitions so far this season, Arsenal are ready to let him leave in the summer.

It further claims that Tierney’s former boss Brendan Rodgers, who coached the 24-year-old back when both of them were at Celtic, is desperate to once again join their forces at Leicester City.

Rodgers is reportedly resigned to the idea of Ben Chilwell leaving for Chelsea in the summer and wants to bring in Tierney as a direct replacement of the England international.
