The Gunners are ready to splash the cash in the January transfer window to strengthen the hand of Mikel Arteta in his attempts to turn the club’s fortunes around.

Arsenal are ready to offer Granit Xhaka plus £40m to Leicester City for the services of defensive midfielder Wilfried Ndidy, as per Leicestershire Live.

Xhaka, 28, was named as the Gunners’ captain earlier this season but has since fallen out of favor at the Emirates and is reportedly on his way out of the club.

The Swiss midfielder’s stock fell at the club after he told the team’s fans to ‘f**k off* following his substitution during Arsenal’s home clash with Crystal Palace in October.

While most fans and neutrals were expecting the 28-year-old to apologize for his behavior, he doubled down by aiming his anger at the fans in an Instagram post in which the Swiss also explained the reasons for his emotional outburst.

Apart from the uncertain situation of Xhaka at the club, the poor form of both Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi might also compel the Gunners to make their move for the Leicester midfielder.

Ndidi could provide some much-needed cover to the beleaguered Arsenal defense which has conceded a whopping 27 goals in only 18 Premier League appearances already this season.

The 23-year-old has been a rock in the heart of the Foxes’ midfield and regularly provides adequate cover to a defense which has let in just 14 goals this term.

The solidity provided by the Nigerian has helped the 2014/15 Premier League champions to rise to 2nd place in the table, 1 point ahead of reigning champions Manchester City.

Apart from doing the ground work for his side, Ndidi has chipped in with goals as well, with the defensive midfielder scoring 2 goals in 20 appearances in all competitions since the start of the new season.

Ndidi could be a tailor-made signing for Arteta

Since moving to the King Power Stadium from Genk in January 2017, Ndidi has become an integral part of the Leicester midfield, making 120 appearances in all competitions.

The sweeping work which the 23-year-old regularly does for his team allows the Foxes to block the opposition’s passing lines and launch lethal attacks on the counter.

His defensive qualities were on display when Leicester inflicted a 2-0 defeat on Arsenal in what proved to be the last game of Unai Emery as the club’s manager.

The Nigerian was instrumental in preventing the likes of Granit Xhaka and Matteo Guendouzi from getting comfortable in the center of the park and also made several important interceptions for his side.

It remains to be seen whether Leicester, who are very much in the title race, would allow Ndidi to leave in January as doing so might seriously hurt their chances of challenging the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City.
