The 21-year-old French midfielder wasn’t a part of the Gunners squad that put the Canaries to the sword at the Emirates on Wednesday night.
Matteo Guendouzi wasn’t a part of the Arsenal squad for the third game running as his future at the North London outfit continues to be the subject of discussion.
The French midfielder hasn’t kicked a ball for the Gunners since he escaped a retrospective ban from the Football Association for his antics during his side’s 2-1 defeat at Brighton.
Guendouzi was seen grabbing striker Neal Maupay by the throat towards the end of the game in which the Brighton striker had scored the winner. His constant omission from the next three games has seen the former Ligue 2 midfielder linked with Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Asked about why the 21-year-old wasn’t a part of the Gunners squad, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta claimed that the ‘situation hasn’t changed’ regarding the Frenchman. This left little doubt in anyone’s mind that the youngster’s omission from the squad isn’t a part of any tactical strategy.
Rennes will not sell Real Madrid transfer target Eduardo Camavinga to Los Blancos even if Zinedine Zidane’s side meet the French outfit’s €80m valuation of the youngster, their sporting director Florian Maurice has told RMC Sport [via Daily Mail].
The 17-year-old midfielder has been attracting interest from La Liga leaders due to his phenomenal performances in the Ligue 1 this season. Camavinga has performed admirably in their middle of the park to help Rennes finish third in the table.
Reports circulating in Spain over the past few weeks have claimed that Real are looking to bring in a new defensive midfielder to lessen their reliance on Casemiro.
The Brazilian has started all but three of Madrid’s 32 games in La Liga this season and has managed to last the whole 90 minutes in all but 1 of them.
The former Borussia Dortmund striker has become the fastest player in history to score 50 goals for the North London outfit.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang collected another personal accolade on Wednesday when he opened the scoring for the Gunners in their comfortable victory over Norwich.
Aubameyang benefited from Tim Krul’s howler to nudge the ball into an empty net and pile more misery on the relegation-threatened canaries.
50 - Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has scored his 50th Premier League goal in fewer appearances (79) than any other @Arsenal player, and is the 6th fastest to this total among all Premier League players. Clinical. pic.twitter.com/YWjDZJzFsP— OptaJoe (@OptaJoe) July 1, 2020
The 31-year-old’s effort on the night meant that he has now scored 50 goals for the club, with the Beninese forward taking only 79 appearances to reach that milestone.
That means that Aubameyang has now bettered Theory Henry’s record, which the Frenchman set by reaching the half-century of goals for the Gunners in a club-record 83 games.
