Ballon d’Or 2019: Starting time, live stream, TV info, finalists and more

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi, Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk, and Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo are among the favorites to clinch the award.

In a glittering ceremony that is bound to attract millions of viewers from around the globe, the winner of 2019’s Ballon d’Or award will be announced in Paris on Monday.

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi is the favorite to add to his collection of five Ballon d’Or awards, though Liverpool center back Virgil van Dijk and Juventus man Cristiano Ronaldo are very much in the running as well.

Messi has already won the Best FIFA Men’s award held earlier this year, whereas Van Dijk was the recipient of UEFA’s Men’s Player of the Year award.

That means that if Ronaldo is able to defy the odds on Monday night, it would be the first time in history that there would be three different recipients of the three biggest awards in men’s football. The award ceremony for the Ballon d’Or 2019 is going to take place at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris on Monday, December 2.

Participants will begin arriving at the venue after the beginning of the red carpet from 4pm UK time, though the ceremony won’t kick off before 7:30pm.

Viewers in the US might do well to tune-in to BeIn Sports as the channel broadcast the awards ceremony stateside last year, and might do so again in 2019.

L’Equipe and France Football, both of whom live-streamed the event on their website in 2018, are expected to come handy for European viewers.

Provided you don’t live in either of these two regions, you can check which channel is broadcasting the Ballon D’Or 2019 award ceremony in your country by going through the listings given on this page.Images leaked on Twitter purport to show that Lionel Messi, who has already won this award five times in his career, will once again come out as the winner on Monday evening.

Provided that’s what’s actually going to happen, it shouldn’t come as a surprise given the fact that the Argentine scored an eye-watering 51 goals in only 50 appearances for Barcelona last term.

Liverpool fans would disagree with Messi being handed the prize, though, as Virgil Van Dijk, the heart of the club’s defense, led the Premier League runners-up to Champions League glory last season.

The reason why Cristiano Ronaldo is the 3rd favorite to lift the award on Monday is because the Portuguese had a fairly average 2018/19 season at Juventus by his lofty standards.

Despite making only 7 fewer appearances than Messi in all competitions last campaign, Ronaldo managed to score 28 goals for his club, 22 fewer than that of the Argentine. [/ vc_column_text] [/ vc_column] [/ vc_row] “Trending:” taxonomy = “post_tag”] [/ vc_column] [/ vc_row] [/ vc_section]
