Barca reject Benfica midfielder, five players fed up at Real Madrid and Ajax star wants PL move

The 25-year-old Benfica midfielder, who spent five seasons with Borussia Dortmund before moving to Portugal in January, wanted to sign for the Camp Nou outfit.

Barcelona rejected the opportunity to sign former Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Weigl this summer, according to reports coming out from Spain.

Don Balon further claims that the 25-year-old’s representatives contacted the Camp Nou outfit with the suggestion that the Catalan giants should sign the midfielder as a replacement for Sergio Busquets, who will be turning 33 next July.

Weigl moved to Dortmund from fellow Bundesliga outfit 1860 Munich in 2015 before becoming an integral part of the side for the following four seasons. However, his dream move to Dortmund turned sour after Lucian Favre’s side brought in Emre Can from Juventus last summer.

After struggling for a first-team place in the first half of the 2019/20 season, the frustrated playmaker ended up opting in favor of a move to Benfica in January. And he wanted to rejuvenate his career with a move to Barca, but Ronald Koeman’s side rejected the proposal of signing him ahead of this season.

After Real failed to win any of their last three games in La Liga, the players complain that they deserve more game time to prove their worth for the club.

Five Real Madrid players are fed up with their situation at the club and may leave the Santiago Bernabeu outfit if they aren’t afforded more game time in the coming months, per Don Balon.

Eder Militao, one of the players who is unhappy with his fortunes at Los Blancos, has failed to make his mark in Spain since his €50m move from FC Porto. Similar concerns are shared by Rodrygo who has provided 3 assists already this season despite starting only 2 games for Madrid.

Martin Odegaard, who displayed his mettle with his performances for Real Sociedad last season, is also impatient with the way he’s being handled by Zinedine Zidane. Luka Jovic is also concerned with the way things have turned out for him since leaving Eintracht Frankfurt for Madrid.

Surprisingly the fifth player who is fed up at La Liga champions is Vinicius Junior. The Brazilian winger too complaints about the lack of opportunities and how, despite his contributions, whatever playing time he gets is always as a substitute from the bench.

Top News 3: Andre Onana wants Premier League move

The Ajax goalkeeper was linked with a move to Chelsea this summer before the Stamford Bridge outfit completed the signing of Edouard Mendy.

Andre Onana is reportedly hoping to follow the footsteps of former teammates Hakim Ziyech and Donny van de Beek by completing a move to the Premier League next summer.

Ziyech signed a five-year deal worth £33.3million with Chelsea in January ahead of a move to the Stamford Bridge outfit this summer. Van de Beek soon followed suit by completing a £35million move to Manchester United in September.

And Daily Mail is now reporting that their former teammate Onana, who was linked with a move to London clubs Chelsea and Tottenham this summer, is still adamant of completing his dream move to the English top-flight after the end of the 2020/21 campaign.

The news outlet further claims in its report that Ajax won’t stand in the way of their goalkeeper leaving the club if the player’s potential suitors agree to meet his £50m release clause, thereby making the 24-year-old the fourth most expensive goalkeeper of all time.
