The France international had completed only two sessions after return from coronavirus isolation before he once again succumbed to a knock.
Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti has suffered a calf injury during an individual training session at the club’s training ground on Saturday afternoon, the club has confirmed in a statement.
The 26-year-old France international, who has struggled to nail down a first-team spot due to foot and knee injuries in the last few years, once again faces a spell on the sidelines as Barcelona refused to put a time frame as to when he’d return to the side.
The La Liga leaders were only allowed to resume individual training sessions at the Cituat Esportiva Joan Gamper on Friday after the coronavirus pandemic forced clubs across Spain to force their players to go into self-isolation in March.
Umtiti joined the Camp Nou giants from Lyon in 2016 and has so far made 114 appearances for the Spanish giants in all competitions. Repeated injuries have seen the 26-year-old fall down the pecking order at the club, with both Gerard Pique and Clement Lenglet above him.
Paris Saint-Germain are prepared to ask Inter Milan to either extend Mauro Icardi’s 1-year loan-stay at the club or lower the sum mentioned in the option-to-buy clause in the striker’s contract.
Icardi moved to the French capital last summer after the souring of his relations with Inter Milan convinced their manager Antonio Conte to move the player elsewhere.
However, despite the fact that both parties aren’t on very good terms, Inter know what Icardi is capable of and inserted a 62m option-to-buy clause in the loan deal that the player agreed with PSG last summer.
Daily Mail reports [quoting L’Equipe] that the French champions have already paid around £11.5m for Icardi over the past year, which would mean that they’d have to spend a further £49m on the striker if they want to sign him on a permanent basis.
After the 2019/20 Ligue 1 season was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, Bakayoko, who was on a season-long loan at AS Monaco, has returned to the London-based club.
Almost a year after he completed his one-year loan spell at AC Milan, Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko is once again keen on a return to the Serie A giants.
Bakayoko was a part of the Milan squad that impressed with its performances in the 2018/19 campaign and went on to finish 5th in the Serie A table.
Fabrizio Romano [via Calcio Mercato] adds that the player enjoys a good relationship with the Milan fans who still adore him for the goal he scored in the Milan derby.
Milan are in the market for a midfielder and Bakayoko has also been transfer-listed by the Blues who demand that any club looking to sign the 25-year-old meet their €32-35m valuation of him.
