Barcelona furious with two stars, Porto want Man Utd midfielder and Man City star set to force move in January

The refusal of both players to leave the club cost the Camp Nou giants the potential signings of Eric Garcia and Memphis Depay.

Barcelona are angry with Ousmane Dembele and Samuel Umtiti after the duo refused to leave the club during the summer transfer window, per AS.

Dembele, 23, was linked with a loan move to Manchester United after the Red Devils identified the France international as possible alternative to Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho. He was also told by manager Ronald Koeman that he is way down the pecking order at the Camp Nou outfit.

The Camp Nou outfit also reportedly told Dembele that his potential departure would allow them to fund the signing of Memphis Depay from Lyon. But the winger dug in his heels and decided to stay put at the cost of angering the Barca higher-ups.

Umtiti, meanwhile, had offers from several clubs this summer and his potential departure from the club would have raised cash for Barca to bring in Manchester City’s Eric Garcia. However, the 26-year-old followed in the footsteps of Dembele by choosing not to leave.

Top News 2: Porto want Man United midfielder Jesse Lingard on loan

The Red Devils are reportedly amenable to the idea of reducing their towering wage bill by allowing the 27-year-old join Porto on a season-long loan.

Porto are hoping to sign Manchester United midfielder Jesse-Lingard on a season-long loan deal, reports ESPN’s Rob Dawson.

The two clubs have been in constant talks over the past few weeks to conclude the transfer of Alex Telles to Old Trafford who joined the Red Devils in a €15m deal on transfer deadline day.

But it has now emerged that the Portuguese outfit used their communicated channel with United to enquire about the possibility of signing Lingard. The 27-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at United in recent seasons and will be a free agent next summer.

That the Red Devils have warmed up to the idea of getting the England international off their wage bill is unsurprising given that Lingard takes home £100,000-per-week before taxes under the terms of the four year contract he signed with the club in April 2017.

Barcelona wanted to sign the centre-back this summer but they were put off by Manchester City’s £20m valuation of the centre-back who has less than a year remaining on his contract.

Manchester City centre-back Eric Garcia has told the club’s board that he’ll either move to Barcelona in January or join the Catalan giants as a free agent next summer, per Fabrizio Romano.

New Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman is reportedly a huge fan of the Spaniard who was part of Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy from 2008 to 2017. He joined Man City as a 16-year-old a year later in a move that was facilitated by his agent and Barca legend Carles Puyol.

But after spending just two years with the Man City senior side, the centre-back is poised to return to the Camp Nou outfit. Barca tried their best to grant him his wish this summer but their efforts to sign the 18-year-old were blocked by City’s £20m valuation of the Spaniard.

Garcia is reportedly unhappy with the recent turn of events and has told City’s higher-ups that he will see out the final year of his contract at the Etihad before jetting off to Spain.
