The former Middlesbrough striker joined the Camp Nou giants last month knowing that they could sell him in the summer transfer window.

Less than a month after they secured his emergency signing, Barcelona are ready to offload Martin Braithwaite for the same amount that they paid to secure his services from Leganes, reports Sport.

The Danish forward joined the Camp Nou giants in controversial circumstances in February after Barca were granted permission to make an emergency signing midway through the season.

La Liga rules stipulate that any club whose player is facing more than five months out of action due to injury could be allowed to sign a replacement out of the window.

The setback which Ousmane Dembele suffered on his return to fitness ruled out the French international or the remainder of the season, allowing his side to turn to the Spanish league’s rulebook and secure the signing of the 28-year-old.

The La Liga leaders activated the £15m release clause which Braithwaite had in his contract with Leganes to sign him as a replacement for the injured Dembele.

However, with Dembele expected to return to full fitness somewhere in the next few months and Barca looking increasingly likely to make new signings, Braithwaite might have to make way.

The Camp Nou side were previously hopeful that they could make a profit on the sale of Braithwaite but are now resigned to losing him for the same amount for which they signed him in February.

But if the club doesn’t get a suitable offer for the former Middlesbrough forward, Quique Setien is willing to accommodate him in his squad next season.

West Ham and Everton interested in Braithwaite

The report further claims that both West Ham United and Everton are considering making a move for the 28-year-old once the transfer window reopens.

However, while the Premier League duo are the most notable clubs after the player’s signature, they are far from being his only admirers.

Serie A sides Torino and Sassuolo have also shown their intention to secure the forward’s services who is aware he could be sold by his club in the coming months.

Braithwaite is yet to complete 90 minutes for Barca ever since his move to the club and has made only three appearances for them.
