Despite rejecting transfer interest from Manchester United in the summer, the 23-year-old remains out of manager Ronald Koeman’s plans.
Barcelona are ready to put Ousmane Dembele up for sale after the France star rejected the opportunity to leave Camp Nou in the summer, per Sport.
The Spanish news publication also claims that Ronald Koeman remains keen to offload the 23-year-old and will try to get him off Barcelona’s wage bill in January. Dembele is currently the third-highest earner on the Catalan giants’ payroll as he takes home £220,000 before taxes per week.
Barca are reportedly furious at Dembele after he thwarted their move for Lyon’s Memphis Depay by declining a summer move to United. They are set to drop their asking price to €50 million to expedite the France international’s departure from the club.
His contractual situation at the club has also convinced the Camp Nou outfit to get rid of Dembele in January rather than waiting until next summer, as the former Borussia Dortmund forward only has a season-and-a-half remaining on his contract.
Manchester United have added RB Leipzig center-back Dayot Upamecano and Burnley’s James Tarkowsi to their transfer wish list, reports The Athletic .
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have overseen a poor defensive start to the season as the 11 goals that they have conceded in their first three Premier League games have made their defensive record the worst of any team in the English top flight after three matches.
Fulham and Liverpool, the other two sides who have shipped in 11 goals already this season, have both played one game more than the Red Devils. Similar is the case with Premier League newcomers West Brom who have played one more game than United and conceded two more (13) goals.
United failed to strengthen their centre-back department over the summer but have reportedly decided to bring-in cover to the likes of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof in January.
The reigning Bundesliga and European champions were the epitome of shrewdness in the transfer market as they spent just €63m on seven new signings this summer.
Bayern Munich tried and failed to sign Fedo Valverde from Real Madrid this summer, according to a report by MARCA.
The reigning European champions wanted to sign the Spaniard as their replacement for Thiago Alcantara who left Hansi Flick’s side to join Premier League winners Liverpool in the summer.
Bayern turned to Santiago Bernabeu after selling Thiago to Liverpool but found neither the club nor the player amenable to the idea of a transfer, with Valverde telling Bayern that his objective is to play, enjoy and become successful for Los Blancos.
Yet another reason why Bayern failed in their pursuit of Valverde is that they belong to the group of teams – of which Real are also a member – that have an unspoken agreement that they won’t try and poach the other side’s players with aggressive tactics at the last minute.
