Barcelona transfer news: Camp Nou outfit wants to sell midfielder in January

Reports coming out from Spain claim that the Camp Nou outfit are eager to get the Brazilian off their wage bill and use his transfer fee to fund other signings.

Barcelona are eager to offload Philippe Coutinho in the January transfer window, with the Camp Nou outfit unhappy with the Brazilian’s contribution this season.

The former Liverpool playmaker, who takes home around £240,000-per-week, returned to the Catalan outfit in the summer after spending the last campaign at Bayern Munich. He made 33 appearances for the Bavarian outfit during his season-long stay in Germany, scoring nine goals in the process.

However, while the Bundesliga outfit had the option of landing the midfielder on a permanent deal for £108m at the end of 2019/20 season, their decision to look elsewhere forced the 28-year-old to pack his bags and head back to Spain.

Coutinho was able to nail down a starting eleven sport during his first few months back in Barcelona, playing in the central No.10 role behind the striker. He has since then lost that spot to Pedri who played ahead of the Brazilian during Barcelona’s midweek 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad.

And Diario ARA are now reporting that the Brazilian’s omission from the squad wasn’t the last time as Barca are eager to get him off their wage bill in January. Ronald Koeman’s side are hoping they could cash-in on the midfielder and use the funds generated from his departure to strengthen their squad.
