Barcelona could line up against Cadiz

While PSG are traveling to Barcelona on the back of a four-game winning run in all competitions, Barcelona have lost just once in their last eight games in all competitions.

  • Barcelona will go head to head vs PSG for the Tuesday night’s 1st leg Champions League R-16 clash between both sides at Camp Nou
  • Ronald Koeman’s side are coming into this game on the back of a morale-boosting 5-1 thrashing of Deportivo Alaves at the weekend
  • PSG were made to work hard but ultimate came out as 2-1 winners in a top-of-the-table clash with fellow Ligue 1 outfit Nice

Barcelona will be aiming to carry on their recent excellent form when they host Paris Saint-Germain in the 1st leg Champions League R-16 clash at the Camp Nou on Tuesday night.

Ronald Koeman’s side might still be aching from their 2-0 defeat to Sevilla in the 1st leg Copa del Rey semi-final last week. But as they showed in their thrashing of Alaves at the weekend, this game couldn’t have come at a better time for them.

Mauricio Pochettino though won’t be worried as his new side have overcome the shock 3-2 defeat at Lorient last month by putting together a four-game winning streak in all competitions. Hence why, Tuesday’s clash between Barca and PSG is expected to be fully poised.

Barcelona vs PSG preview: Team News and starting lineups

Barcelona team and injury news

The Camp Nou outfit will likely be without Ronald Araujo as the defender’s recovery from the injury he sustained during his side’s 3-2 victory over Real Betis hasn’t gone according to plan. He is expected to miss out on Tuesday but could return to action at the weekend.

The same cannot be said about the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Ansu Fati, Gerard Pique and Sergi Roberto, all of whom are recovering from long-term injuries. Martin Braithwaite has also been ruled out for this game, which means Antoine Griezmann has no pressure for his starting XI berth.

Injured: Martin Braithwaite, Sergi Roberto, Philippe Coutinho, Ansu Fati, Gerard Pique

Doubtful: Ronald Araujo

Possible Barcelona starting lineup vs PSG: Ter Stegen; Dest, Umtiti, Lenglet, Alba; Busquets, De Jong, Pedri; Dembele, Messi, Griezmann

PSG team and injury news

Mauricio Pochettino will be without the services of Neymar and Angel Di Maria when his side take on Barca on Tuesday night. The Brazilian international suffered an adductor injury last midweek, whereas Di Maria is still recuperating from the thigh injury he sustained in Le Classique.

The duo’s absence should allow the likes of Moise Kean and Pablo Sarabia to keep their places in the PSG starting XI on Tuesday, though doubts persist over whether Marco Verratti would be able to knock off the kick to the hip he received from Marseille’s Dimitri Payet earlier this month.

Possible PSG starting lineup vs Barcelona: Navas; Florenzi, Marquinhos, Kimpembe, Kurzawa; Gueye, Paredes; Kean, Draxler, Mbappe; Icardi
