Best goalkeepers in the Premier League 2020/21 season: Shot stoppers with the best save percentage

Stats taken from Statsbomb/FBREF (via Football 365) show the goalkeepers that are leading the way in the 2020/21 Premier League season until January.

Tottenham skipper Hugo Lloris has the best save percentage of any goalkeeper in the 2020/21 Premier League season, with the Spurs shot-stopper keeping 81.7% of the shots that he faces at bay.

Not far behind the France World Cup winner is Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope. The England international has faced 72 shots in the Premier League this season and has saved 58 out of those to maintain a remarkable save percentage of 80.6%.

Third on the list is Manchester City and Brazil goalkeeper Ederson. The 27-year-old might not be the number 1 choice for his national side but might well get that spot in the coming months if he continues to maintain his current save percentage of 78.4%.

Behind the 27-year-old is former Arsenal man Emiliano Martinez. Many thought that he was only joking when he said upon joining Aston Villa in the summer that the move was a step-up in his career, but a 78.4% save percentage shows that the Argentine was right.

The fifth entrant on the list of best goalkeepers in the 2020/21 Premier League season is, surprisingly, Fulham’s Alphonse Areola. The former PSG man made a glaring error to gift Man Utd an equalizer on Wednesday, but as his 76.7% save percentage shows, it was a once-in-a-blue-moon type of error.
