Cavani in, Martial out: How Man Utd could line up at Fulham
Edinson Cavani in, Anthony Martial out: How Manchester United could line up at Fulham on Wednesday night.
Ahead of their FA Cup clash with Liverpool on Sunday, the league leaders travel to face relegation-threatened Fulham on Wednesday night.
Edinson Cavani is expected to replace Anthony Martial in the Manchester United starting line-up at Fulham on Wednesday evening.
Martial wasn’t at his best against Liverpool on Sunday and was replaced in the final stages of the game with summer signing Cavani. The Uruguayan made some excellent runs but also failed to make a mark as the game ended goalless, with United finishing the weekend 2 points off 2nd placed Man City.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be telling his squad not to let their position in the table make them complacent and try to return to winning ways with a victory at Fulham on Wednesday. And after not nominating the same line up for back to back games this season, he’s expected to make changes.
Apart from Martial who is almost guaranteed to start the game from the bench, Victor Lindelof is also expected to make way on Wednesday, with the fit-again Eric Bailly taking his place in the heart of the Red Devils’ defense alongside Harry Maguire.
Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic too could return to the starting line up against Fulham, with Paul Pogba and Fred likely to start Wednesday’s game on the bench. The quartet has all played well this season but Solskjaer might choose to rest the latter duo to keep things fresh.
In attack, Bruno Fernandes is expected to retain his place despite a dismal showing vs Liverpool. He’s likely to be partnered alongside Rashford and Mason Greenwood, with Cavani potentially leading the attack as the sole striker.
Possible Man Utd line-up against Fulham: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Bailly, Maguire, Shaw; McTominay, Matic; Greenwood, Fernandes, Rashford; Cavani
