Chelsea thrash bottom side Sheffield United, Bruno Fernandes ease the pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and Eze shines in Palace win

Hakim Ziyech shined once again with two assists as Chelsea hammer bottom side Sheffield United 4-1 at Stamford Bridge.

David McGoldrick put Chris Wilder’s side ahead inside 9 minutes as Edouard Mendy conceded first Premier League goal after keeping six consecutive clean sheets for Stamford Bridge residents.

Midway through the first half, Tammy Abraham restored parity with a scuffed volley from Mateo Kovacic cross, who was preferred ahead of Jorginho in the midfield. After the half-hour mark, summer-signing Ben Chilwell put Chelsea in front after converting Hakim Ziyech’s cross from the close range.

Frank Lampard’s men started the second half on high and in the 77th-minute, Thiago Silva’s glancing header from Ziyech’s corner doubled Chelsea’s advantage. Three minutes later, Timo Werner completed a comfortable win for the Blues with the fourth goal.

The win has lifted Chelsea to third in the table, just one point behind leaders Southampton while Sheffield United remain in the bottom with just one point from opening eight matches.

Manchester United came from behind to claim a 3-1 win over Everton as Ole’s men return to winning ways after back-to-back defeats.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looked concerned when Bernard , who started ahead of suspended Richarlison , broke the deadlock in 19 th -minute with a crisp strike from Dominic Calvert-Lewin headed flick.

However, seven minutes later Bruno Fernandes’ inch-perfect header from Luke Shaw’s cross restored parity. The Portuguese playmaker then added his and Manchester United’s second after the half-hour mark with a lofted cross which ended in the left-bottom corner.

The visitors created a couple of decent opportunities before the summer-signing Edinson Cavani scored his first Man United goal from a counter-attack in the final minute of the game, beautifully set up by man of the match Bruno Fernandes.

The win came like a glimmer of hope for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the Reds escaped their worst start to the English top-flight before heading to the International break.

Patrick Bamford continues his scoring streak but Leeds United lost 4-1 against Crystal Palace at the Selhurst Park.

The London-based club was put in front by Scott Dann who slotted home from Eberechi Eze’s corner after 12 minutes. Ten minutes later, Eze scored his first Palace goal with a sublime free-kick into the top corner.

Patrick Bamford’s opener for Leeds was disallowed by Video Assistant Referee as the striker’s arm was in an offside position during the build-up. However, former Palace loanee took his chance brilliantly in 27th-minute after controlling Mateusz Klich’s header and then nodding home for Leeds’ opener.

But before half-time, Roy Hodgson’s side restored their two-goal advantage as Patrick van Aanholt’s cross was guided back into his own net by Helder Costa. After the restart, Marcelo Bielsa’s side pushed for a response as Pascal Struijk and Ezgjan Alioski were denied by the Eagles.

However, in the 70th-minute, Jordan Ayew put the result beyond any doubt with Crystal Palace’s fourth of the night as Marcelo Bielsa’s men suffered back-to-back 4-1 defeats after Monday night hammering against Leicester.
