After spending more than €220m on new signings this summer, the Stamford Bridge outfit are set to bid farewell to numerous players before next month’s transfer deadline day.
The 27-year-old Germany international has effectively become the fifth-choice centre back after the arrival of Thiago Silva from PSG. It is claimed that he will most likely leave the club on loan before the closure of the ongoing summer transfer window.
French champions Paris Saint-Germain and Serie A outfit Napoli have been nominated as the early favorites to sign Rudiger, with Thomas Tuchel’s side hopeful of wrapping up a deal for the centre back before October 5 deadline.
Rudiger was average last season as the Blues shipped in an eye-watering 54 goals in 38 Premier League games. Their poor defensive record convinced Lampard to bring Silva on a free transfer from PSG and pay £50m to Leicester City for left-back Ben Chilwell.
The 26-year-old defensive midfielder is not wanted by Blues manager Frank Lampard and the Stamford Bridge outfit are keen to cash-in on him to raise some money after spending heavily on new signings this summer.
PSG are in the market for a new defensive midfielder and have turned to Bakayoko after getting frustrated in their attempts to sign any of their top targets.
Thomas Tuchel’s side have tried and failed in their pursuits of AC Milan’s Ismael Bennacer, Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Rennes ace Eduardo Camavinga. They are also reportedly considering signing Sami Khedira from Serie A champions Juventus.
The 19-year-old England and Chelsea forward was close to joining the Bundesliga champions 18 months ago before the deal collapsed.
The Bundesliga champions’ pursuit of the 19-year-old goes 24 months’ and they even saw an offer of £35m for the forward dismissed by Chelsea last January. Bayern then launched a £22.5m bid for Hudson-Odoi last summer but it was also rejected by the Blues.
Bayern have already brought in Leroy Sane from Manchester City in a £54.8m deal, but it is understood that Hansi Flick’s side are still in the market for a new winger following the departures of Philippe Coutinho and Ivan Perisic earlier this summer.
Hudson-Odoi is yet to start a game for Chelsea this season as he came off the bench in their Premier League opener against Brighton and was an unused substitute against Liverpool eight days later.
