The FA Cup 5th round clash between the two sides will take place on Tuesday 3 March at 7:45pm BST at the Stamford Bridge Stadium.

Jurgen Klopp would be hoping his Liverpool players put their Saturday’s shock 3-0 defeat at Watford behind them when the reigning European champions will travel to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday to face a Chelsea side which also failed to win on the weekend.

Frank Lampard’s men had to rely on a late Marcos Alonso strike to salvage a 2-2 draw with relegation-threatened Bournemouth. The Blues’ would be hoping to ease some pressure on their manager by claiming the Reds’ scalp on Tuesday night.

Given the significance of a potential victory in this clash, both sides are expected to field relatively strong line-ups. Their decision to do so would be a break from their tradition in the previous rounds of this season’s FA Cup as both Chelsea and Liverpool nominated young line-ups in the earlier rounds.

Team news of both sides

Barcelona put Chelsea ace on five-man transfer shortlist
He has scored 15 and assisted six goals in 34 appearances so far this season
The home side are expected to be without Tammy Abraham for Tuesday’s clash after the young Englishman watched their weekend’s stalemate with the Cherries from the sidelines.

The 22-year-old has been having issues with his troublesome ankle which doesn’t appear to have fully recovered from the blow it received against Arsenal in January. He has flown to Spain to consult a specialist regarding the problem.

His potential absence means that Lampard might nominate Olivier Giroud in his line-up for this fixture. The French World Cup winner has performed well in recent weeks and is expected to get a nod ahead of Michy Batshuayi for this game. Callum Hudson Odoi, N’Golo Kante, and Christian Pulisic all remain out.

Liverpool, meanwhile, will be pleased to see the return of Joe Gomez to the side after the England international missed out on their Saturday’s defeat due to a slight knock. However, given Klopp’s propensity to nominate 2nd choice team for FA Cup, Gomez is expected to be on the bench.

Naby Keita is a huge doubt for the game after the Guinea international suffered what appeared to be a hip injury at the weekend. Captain Jordan Henderson, forward Xherdan Shaqiri and right-back Nathaniel Clyne all remain on the sidelines.

Given the fact that Liverpool would feel like having a point to prove after their maiden Premier League defeat of the season, we expect the Reds to claim a victory on Tuesday evening.

However, that doesn’t mean that they’d find it easy on Tuesday night. With seasoned players like Willian, Pedro and Jorginho expected to be a part of the Chelsea starting XI, the Reds would have to work very hard to avoid suffering back-to-back defeats for the first time this season.

Their center-half pairing of Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren would most likely come under the cosh and goalkeeper Adrian, who was in the sticks for Liverpool when they defeated Chelsea in the UEFA Super Cup on penalties before the start of the season, would have to be at his best yet again as well.

Predicted Chelsea line-up vs Liverpool: Kepa; Azpilicueta, Tomori, Zouma; James, Jorginho, Barkley, Alonso; Willian, Giroud, Pedro

Predicted Liverpool line-up vs Chelsea: Adrian; N Williams, Matip, Lovren, Robertson; Oxlade-Chamberlain, Fabinho, Jones; Elliot, Minamino, Origi
