Chelsea Vs Tottenham Preview: Team news, key stats and potential starting line-ups

Chelsea eye Ligue 1 ace
The Ligue 1 ace has impressed for AS Monaco this season

Regardless of what happens elsewhere in the Premier League, a defeat for the home side in Saturday’s early kick-off will send them out of the Champions League places.

Jose Mourinho will return to Stamford Bridge for the first time as Tottenham manager knowing that a victory over his former side would let Spurs into the top four.

The Portuguese manager would be hoping his current team bounce back from their disappointing Champions League defeat to RB Leipzig on Wednesday.

Frank Lampard’s Chelsea would be eager to not meet the same fate when they face Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich next Tuesday, but with just a single point separating both the London sides, their full focus will be on the Saturday’s clash.

Team news of both sides

Tottenham confirm the extent of Heung- Min Son injury
The striker might be out for the season
While Spurs’ injury troubles have been dominating the headlines over the past few weeks, all is not hunky-dory about their Saturday’s hosts either.

Frank Lampard’s Chelsea will be without forward Callum Hudson-Odoi for Saturday’s six-pointer as the England international is still recovering from the hamstring injury he sustained during training ahead of last weekend’s clash with Manchester United.

The Blues will also be without midfielder Christian Pulisic who has resumed full training but hasn’t yet got back to his full fitness. N’Golo Kante will also watch the game from the stands after he was substituted off last weekend after suffering a groin injury.

Spurs’ injury troubles have already been well-documented as the North London side might spend the remainder of the 2019/20 season without both of their main strikers in Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min, with the duo having already undergone surgeries to recuperate from their respective injuries.

They will also be without Moussa Sissoko as the France international is still recovering from the knee injury that he suffered during his side’s 1-0 defeat against Southampton on New Year’s Day.

With Chelsea managing only four victories in their last fourteen games in the Premier League, the pressure is on Frank Lampard to get a big-game performance out of his men on Saturday.

Spurs meanwhile are a club once again looking on the up ever since they decided to replace Mauricio Pochettino with the former Chelsea boss. They have won three of their last four games domestically, including a massive 2-0 victory over reigning champions Manchester City.
