Defender rejects new Arsenal deal, Ramos in contract standoff with Real Madrid and more news

Following the arrivals of Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba over the summer, the Germany international has fallen down the pecking order at The Emirates.

Shkodran Mustafi is set to leave Arsenal at the end of the season after the centre-back rejected the Gunners’ offer of a new contract, reports Football London.

Mustafi signed for Arsenal in the summer of 2016 and was one of the club’s most criticized players under former manager Unai Emery. But the arrival of Arteta proved to be a good sign for the centre-back who played 15 of Arsenal’s last 17 games before suffering a knee injury in July.

The former Valencia defender is currently in the last 12 months of his Gunners’ contract and as things stand would be able to negotiate his exit with foreign clubs in January.

His potential departure from the club would bring more playing opportunities to summer arrival William Saliba who is yet to feature for Mikel Arteta’s side since joining the Gunners in a £27m deal from Ligue 1 outfit Saint-Etienne.

The 34-year-old Spain international – who has won more trophies than any other Madrid player in the 21st century – is in the last year of his contract with the club.

Sergio Ramos and Real Madrid are in a contract standoff with the Spain international demanding a two-year extension from Los Blancos, per AS.

Zinedine Zidane’s side, who saw Ramos finish last season as the club’s 2nd top scorer for in La Liga, are only willing to give their captain a one-year extension.

The Spanish centre-back wants a contract until 2023 but Los Blancos have a well-publicized policy of doling out one-year deals to players in their thirties. Both the parties will begin contract renewal talks in November, with Real aware Ramos could negotiate his move to other clubs in January.

Ramos, 34, has been at Santiago Bernabeu since moving from Sevilla in 2005 and has helped Madrid win five La Liga titles, four Champions League trophies, among other silverware.

The Athletic also claims that none of the trio were handed out punishments as they were given therapeutic use exemptions (TUEs).

Three Premier League stars tested positive for drug tests undertaken during the 2019/20 season, it has been reported.

UK Anti-Doping allowed the players to keep playing, however, as they were found not to have broken any rules. The Athletic further adds that the players escaped punishments because they were given therapeutic use exemptions (TUEs).

One of the players who had tested positive for drug tests appeared to have taken Methylphenidate, or Ritalin, as it’s more commonly known. The drug can control an individual’s behavior problems and has been proven to increase one’s ability to pay attention.

World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has placed the substance on its banned list because it may have a positive impact on the athlete’s abilities. But its rules grant a TUE under certain conditions.
