Fantasy Premier League tips: Six bargain players that should be in your team

With the start of the 2020/21 Premier League season around the corner, Ligalive looks at six inexpensive players that should be in your fantasy football team.

Marcus Greenwood leads the list of undervalued players who could earn your fantasy Premier League side big points in the coming weeks.

The young Manchester United forward might not be playing on the opening weekend due to his side’s late European exploits last term, but his £7.5m price tag combined with the striker’s permanent place in the Red Devils’ starting XI makes him a must-have player for your side.

Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez is another star whose price tag fails to describe the importance he holds for his side. The Argentina international is valued at just £4.5million – an ultimate bargain once you consider the role he played in the closing stages of last season.

Mikel Arteta is reportedly looking to offload the Argentine shot-stopper to Aston Villa but if Martinez is able to stay put at the Emirates for another season, he should stake his claim to be the No.1 in your fantasy Premier League team.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side stunned the footballing world when it announced the capture of Spanish forward Rodrigo from Valencia for £35m earlier this summer.

The Spaniard’s arrival on English shores isn’t good news for Leeds United fans alone. Fantasy Premier League managers across the world can also take advantage of his signing by Leeds by including him in the forward line of their respective sides.

Rodrigo had a season to forget in his last year at Valencia – he managed only 7 goals across all competitions – but the 29-year-old deserves a place in your Fantasy Premier League side considering the fact that he’s available for a paltry £6m.

Brighton full-back Tariq Lamptey is another bargain star you could easily afford to include in your side. The 19-year-old had a brilliant first season at Brighton last term and has already supplanted Martin Montoya to become the first-choice left-back for Graham Potter.

His presence in your side would only cost you 4.5m – a bargain considering the fact that the pacey full-back likes to go forward and might justify his trust in you by providing a string of assists for the relegation-threatened Seagulls.

Having made the move from Tottenham to Southampton earlier this summer, the 23-year-old is expected to be the first-choice right-back for Ralph Hassenheutl this term.

The England U21 star is already into his fourth Premier League campaign has pressure on his shoulders to justify his place in the English top-flight. One could expect him to do just that for a Saints side that loves to attack through the channels.

Walker-Peters managed three assists in the 2018/19 campaign, a modest number unless you consider that he only played 374 minutes during that season. His inclusion in your side for just 4.5m could free up funds which you can use to sign marquee players up front.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles is another youngster whose performances have gone under the radar. The 23-year-old Arsenal midfielder/defender/winger can play in multiple positions and became a staple of Mikel Arteta’s side in the closing stages of last season.

Rumors regarding Hector Bellerin’s move to Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona will surely give Arteta enough reason to bench the Spaniard in favor of Maitland Niles. Should he does that, Fantasy Premier League managers will have an excellent player at their hands for just £5.0m
