Given the fact that Foden isn't getting enough game time at Manchester City this season, reports linking him with a move to Real Madrid next summer make sense.
This report has come only a day after The Telegraph revealed Foden was growing frustrated by lack of playing time for Pep Guardiola's side, He has started only 1 of Man City's last 10 games in the league and was an unused substitute in their 2-0 victory over Newcastle United on Sunday.
It is also claimed that the midfielder was unhappy over being unlooked for Manchester City starting XI against the Magpies after an impressive showing in the side's 4-1 Carabao Cup quarter final victory over Arsenal in the midweek.
Phil Foden is down the pecking order at Man City, a fact made further clear by the salary the player currently earns at the Etihad. He takes home only £ 30,000 per week before taxes at Pep Guardiola's side and might earn much more by moving elsewhere in the summer.
However, the player's recent history, which saw both Foden and his Manchester United counterpart Mason Greenwood get involved in an unsavory video incident in Iceland while on national team duty, might raise eyebrows if he ends up joining Los Blancos.
But given that Foden is only 20 and is expected to learn from his mistakes – and the fact that both Toni Kroos and Luka Modric are currently in the twilight stages of their career, a potential move to Real Madrid would make sense for all parties involved.
