Haaland to Juventus? Old Lady identify three potential replacements of former Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata

  • Juventus have identified three potential replacements of Alvaro Morata should he leave the club this summer
  • The Old Lady will try to sign Memphis Depay, Arkadiusz Milik or Erling Haaland if the Spaniard leaves Turin at the end of this season
  • Morata has scored 16 goals in 33 games this season but is yet to commit his long-term future to Andrea Pirlo’s side

Juventus will try to sign Memphis Depay, Arkadiusz Milik or Erling Haaland should Alvaro Morata leave the Serie A giants this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The 28-year-old Spain international, who re-joined Andrea Pirlo’s side on a one-year loan worth €10million before the start of this season, has previously played for the likes of Chelsea and Real Madrid.

Morata has scored 16 goals in 33 appearances for Juventus in all competitions this season and is the club’s second top-scorer behind Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, his excellent form in front of goal has refused to quell rumors the Spaniard would return to Atletico Madrid at the end of the 2020/21 campaign.

Juventus can prevent that from happening by either agreeing another loan deal for the Spaniard or turn his temporary stay at Turin into permanent by paying £41m to Atleti.

But with the club facing mounting losses due to COVID-19 pandemic and the club’s spineless exit in the Champions League round-of-16, which has further strained its finances, and it seems difficult to imagine a scenario in which they’d pay his transfer fee in the summer.

Juventus first priority is to sign Depay

The former Manchester United forward, who will be a free agent in the summer, is viewed by many behind the scenes at Juventus as the ideal replacement of Morata.

Mainly because Juventus’ current attacking system, which sees Ronaldo in attack with another striker, is poised for a player like Depay who can easily play in the front two.

However, with Barcelona also reportedly interested in the Dutch midfielder, Juventus will have to prepare an astronomical wage package if they are to convince Depay to commit his future to them.
