How Barcelona could line up against Real Sociedad

Ronald Koeman is expected to make a few changes from the side that recorded a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Levante at the weekend.

Barcelona will be aiming to get closer to the top of La Liga table when they host leaders Real Sociedad at the Camp Nou later today.

Doing that won’t be easy given the form Sociedad have mustered up at road this season. Imanol Alguacil’s side are yet to lose away from home this campaign (four wins, two draws) and have garnered up more points on the road (14) than at Anoeta (12).

Ronald Koeman’s side knows that they’d have to put an end to their guests’ imperious early-season form if they are to challenge for the title this season. A victory on Wednesday may see Barca climb up to fifth in the table, six points behind Real Madrid with a game in hand.

The Barca manager said in his pre-match press conference yesterday that he’s contemplating the odd change to the starting line-up that featured against Levante last weekend, with Philippe Coutinho expected to make way for youngster Pedri.

Summer signing Miralem Pjanic will be hoping to get his chance in midfield, but it’s more likely that Koeman will go with the duo of Sergio Busquets and Frenkie de Jong. Lionel Messi is expected to lead the attack force alongside Antoine Griezmann and the in-form Martin Braithwaite.
