Injury-hit Liverpool held by Brighton, Man City thump Burnley, and Madrid lose Hazard in a home defeat

Brighton scored the late equalizer at the Amex as Liverpool lose another player in the form of James Milner.

Sadio Mane was named on the bench while Takumi Minamino started for the Saturday’s early kick-off away at Brighton. Whereas Brighton dealt with double injury blow during the game as Neal Maupay, who missed the penalty in the first half, and former Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana limped off the field.

The defending champions thought they had got the lead when Mohamed Salah put the ball into the net, but VAR chalked off the goal for offside. However, at the hour mark, Liverpool’s most in-form player Diogo Jota slotted home from Salah’s lay off.

Sadio Mane, from the bench, scored Liverpool’s second with a glancing header from Robertson free-kick, but again the goal was ruled out for offside.

Then in the stoppage time, the home side was awarded a penalty after Andy Robertson’s challenge on Danny Welbeck was reviewed on-screen by Stuart Attwell. Pascal Gross then equalized from the spot-kick as Graham Potters’ men salvaged a deserved point against injury-hit Liverpool who lose James Milner with the hamstring.
