Inter Milan considering offering Christian Eriksen to Arsenal in swap deal for midfielder

Inter Milan CEO confirmed last month that the former Tottenham Hotspur playmaker will leave the club during the January transfer window.

Inter Milan are considering offering Christian Eriksen to Arsenal in a swap deal for Lucas Torreira, as the Serie A outfit continue to look for ways to get the Denmark international off their wage bill.

The 28-year-old midfielder, who joined Inter in a £17m transfer last January, hasn’t been able to perform at his best during his time in Italy. Eriksen has made 40 appearances for Antonio Conte’s side in all competitions but has managed only 4 goals for the Nerazzurri.

Ligalive reported in November that Arsenal were offered the chance to sign the Denmark international in January, with reports coming out from Italy at the time further claiming that Borussia Dortmund are also keeping tabs on the 28-year-old.

Inter’s need to push Eriksen off their wage bill has been exacerbated by the club’s failure in the 2020/21 Champions League season. The Nerazzurri were dumped out of the group stages after finishing fourth in their group and Tuttosport claims they want to sell Eriksen to fund moves for key transfer targets.

Will Inter Milan win Serie A?

After winning only two of their opening five games of the 2020/21 Serie A season, Inter have managed a remarkable turnaround in fortunes in the Italian top-flight. Antonio Conte’s side have won all but four of their games in the league since their defeat to Milan in October, losing only two in the process.

Their latest victory over Juventus further sparked hopes of the club’s faithful that Inter might have what it takes to win its first Serie A title in over a decade. But for that to happen the club has to avoid collective lapses of concentration which bedeviled their title push last season.
