Kroos dismisses Pep reunion, Lampard wants the duo to stay, and latest on James Rodriguez

At 30, Real Madrid midfield maestro rules out a reunion with former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola after the duo worked so well at Bayern Munich.

Toni Kroos who is enjoying life at Santiago Bernabéu, can’t imagine Premier League return keeping in mind the physicality and style of play in England as the World Cup Winner plans to stay at Los Blancos for at least another three years.

“If something comes together and you say: ‘Okay, one more year here, because you are just good enough and you still feel like it’, I would not rule it out. But then a move to England, which is also played very physically, I can’t imagine that at 33.” Kroos told Eurosport.

Kroos – who is holding a key for Zidane’s midfield since joining them in 2014 from Bayern Munich – also dismisses ‘China move’ once he is done with the Whites. “One thing you will definitely not read about me is ‘Kroos goes to China for another two years’ or stories like that.”

Frank Lampard, who is a big admirer of youngsters, desires to have experience in the Blues dugout as he wants Brazilian winger Willian and French forward Giroud to see the season out at the Bridge, reports the Mirror.

According to the reports, a couple of players could see exit doors at Stamford Bridge involving Willian and Giroud, with the club confident of extending latter’s stay for one more year.

The veteran striker who is linked with a summer move to Arsenal and Spurs has demanded a two-year extension to his current Chelsea contract but the Blues are willing to keep the 31-year-old Brazilian only for a year.

“We have big players [out of contract] so that’s something I’m obviously looking at very carefully. I would love the squad to look as it has all season, but we’ll have to see how that works.” Lampard commented on players whose contracts are expiring soon.

Former Colombia International Javier Restrepo urges fellow countryman to join Simeone’s Atletico to unlock his true potential, reports Caracol.

James Rodriguez, who returned to Real Madrid in summer 2019 after completing a two-season loan spell at Bayern Munich, always found it difficult to make it to the Madrid starting XI since joining them in 2014.

With Rojiblancos keen on the 28-year-old, Javier Restrepo feels that a switch to Wanda Metropolitano would help James and brands Diego Simeone as an ideal manager for former Monaco ace.

“I’d like to see him at that club [Atetico]. Apart from what they are as a team, he would be with a demanding and winning coach who could further enhance the characteristics that James has” Restrepo told Caracol.
