Lionel Messi interview: Barca superstar reveals 4 athletes that motivate him the most

In one of the most wide-ranging interview of his career, Messi talked about his Barcelona future, Neymar, Pep Guardiola and Antoine Griezmann.

Lionel Messi has claimed in an interview that four athletes motivate him to continue to grow and improve his game, per AS .

The interview has generated headlines worldwide as it remains one of the first Messi gave after dropping his transfer bombshell in the summer. A lot of issues were discussed, including his Barcelona future, but the main thing that stood out was what motivates the Argentine.

Messi revealed that tennis stars Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, basketball great LeBron James and his fellow footballer Cristiano Ronaldo earn his admiration because of the way the quartet leaves everything to give their best on the pitch.

Other notable points of Messi interview

One of the main talking points which dominated the interview was the future of Messi at Barcelona. The interviewer kicked things off by asking whether we'd be seeing the Argentina at Camp Nou or any other stadium next summer.

Messi replied by shooting down transfer reports linking him to a move to Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain next summer. He claimed that he'd make up his mind at the end of the 2020/21 season and would like others to wait and see what happens then.

The Argentine also poured cold water over hopes of the Barcelona faithful that Neymar would return one day to the Camp Nou. He claimed that the club's financial condition is such that they cannot afford to bring the Brazilian, who joined PSG in 2017, back.

His view that Neymar won't return to Barcelona has been echoed by several of the candidates for the club's presidential hotseat too, therefore there shouldn't be any surprise for anyone to note that the Argentine is saying the same.
