Liverpool have been handed a huge boost on the eve of their crucial Champions League clash against Red Bull Salzburg, as per reports.

The Austrian outfit, who are coming into this fixture after recording a thumping win in their Champions League opener, face an anxious wait over the fitness of star striker Erling Haaland.

Having scored 17 goals in only 12 appearances so far this season, which includes an opening-day Champions League hattrick against Genk, the youngster has been a revelation this season.

The teenage sensation missed out on his club’s routine win over opponents Austria Wien over the weekend, and is a major doubt for Wednesday’s trip to Anfield.

While Salzburg are confident that the 19-year-old will be fit to travel with the rest of the squad to the Merseyside, reports claim that the youngster is a huge doubt for the Liverpool clash.

Speaking to the press after Salzburg’s routine victory over the weekend, sporting director Christoph Freund didn’t sound optimistic about the chances of the player gaining full fitness in time of Liverpool clash.

“The next two days are important. He is checked by a doctor every day,’ Salzburg sporting director Christoph Freund said.

“He’s sick, and we don’t quite know when he will be back. Hopefully over the next few days.”

The news is without doubt a huge news for the European Champions who are looking to get back to winning ways after their 2-0 defeat at Napoli.

Anything but a victory in Wednesday’s game would put pressure on the Liverpool side who are the favorites to win their group.

Haaland attracting interest from European powerhouses

Reports claim that his Champions League hat-trick against Genk didn’t go unnoticed as major European clubs are taking interest in Haaland.

One of the clubs, it is reported, are Manchester United who are finding it difficult to score goals this season after seeing both of their strikers succumbing to injuries.

The Red devils could do with the pace and precision of the Norwegian who scored an unbelievable nine goals against Honduras in a single U-20 World Cup match earlier this year.

Apart from his hat-trick in the Champions League, Haaland has already bagged three other trebles this season, two of which have come in the Austrian League whereas one has come in the domestic cup.

His scintillating early-season form means that Haaland has already scored 17 goals for the club in 10 fixtures this campaign.
