Liverpool forward tests positive for COVID-19, Raul Jimenez lifts the lid from transfer rumors, and Brazil on course to WC qualification

Another blow for Jurgen Klopp as Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah tested positive for COVID-19 while on International duty.

The news was confirmed by The Egyptian Football Association (EFA), who initially tweeted that three players from Egypt and their opponent Togo have tested positive with the virus and then confirmed the news after Salah’s second test came positive.

“Salah is keeping a high spirit and is not showing any symptoms of the virus. He has been isolated and the National Team’s doctor is currently liaising with Dr. Jim Moxon, head of Liverpool FC’s medical staff, regarding this matter.” EFA updated on the situation.

Now the 27-year-old will isolate, giving Jurgen Klopp a selection dilemma ahead of the home clash against league leaders Leicester City next weekend. Salah’s absence will be a big miss for Premier League Champions, who already lost Joe Gomez with a knee injury during this international break.

Absentee list growing at Anfield as Mohamed Salah and Joe Gomez join Trent Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho and Virgil van Dijk.

Raul Jimenez is the leading scorer for Wolves this season with four goals
Raul Jimenez is the leading scorer for Wolves this season with four goals

Wolves forward Raul Jimenez reveals the clubs who approached him during the 2020 summer transfer window.

The Mexican striker publicized that Manchester United and Serie A Champions Juventus showed interest in him in the summer but the 29-year-old insists that he is happy with Wolverhampton, however, he did not rule out a move to Old Trafford.

While giving an interview to TUDN, Jimenez stated: “One day I woke up and Juventus wanted me, another Manchester United and what I know is that there were approaches made. But an agreement was never reached and nothing was close. I’m very happy at Wolves.”

“It (a move) did not happen this time. If it happens at some point then it will have to be what is best for me, for Wolves, and the team that I join. But I am very happy at Wolves and being considered a very important player.”

The former Benfica striker has scored four goals so far this season for Wolves and currently on International duty with Mexico, who are scheduled to meet South Korea and Japan in international friendlies.

Top News 3: Brazil on course to WC qualification

Roberto Firmino's winner was his fist goal in four matches for Brazil
Roberto Firmino's winner was his fist goal in four matches for Brazil

Brazil maintain their 100% record in WC 2020 qualification following a narrow 1-0 win over Venezuela at Cícero Pompeu de Toledo Stadium.

A second-half Roberto Firmino penalty rescued all three points for South America Champions as Brazil, who are without their star man Neymar, continue their winning form in World Cup Qualifiers with three wins out of three.

Following last month’s 4-2 win over Peru, Tite made notable changes to the starting XI ahead of matchday 3 as unfit Neymar and COVID-hit Casemiro paved the way for Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus and Everton’s Allan.

After a frustrating first half which ended goalless, Tite’s decision to start out-of-form Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino paid off when the 29-year-old netted the winner from the penalty spot lifting his side to the top, two points clear from their rivals Argentina.

A win is a win, but it was far from convincing performance by Tite’s men who failed to create goal-scoring opportunities and remained on the backfoot against threatening Venezuela.
