The 18-year-old Brazilian who joined the Gunners last summer has been in fine form in his first-ever season in the Premier League.

Liverpool are reportedly keeping tabs on Arsenal’s teenage sensation Gabriel Martinelli in their search for long-term potential transfer options.

The 18-year-old Brazilian has been in fine form for the Gunners since securing a move to the North London club from Brazilian outfit Ituano last summer.

In his first 21 appearances for Mikel Arteta’s side in all competitions, Martinelli has scored 10 goals and assisted another 3 to his teammates.

Martinelli scored a brilliant solo goal during his side’s 2-2 draw with Chelsea on Tuesday during which he ran through the length of the pitch before putting the ball coolly past a hapless Kepa Arrizzabalaga.

Football Leaks report that the Reds’ recruitment team are keeping close tabs on the Brazilian and will monitor his progress during the remainder of the season.

It is further claimed that Michael Edwards, who is the director of football at the Anfield club, is leading the club’s trail of the 18-year-old.

Any approach for Martinelli in this month looks highly unlikely, though, as the Reds have reportedly decided they will assess his performances during the 2nd half of the season before deciding whether they should make a move to secure his transfer.

The Premier League leaders are thought to be in the transfer market for a new striker that could ease the burden on the in-form Roberto Firmino.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have been linked with RB Leipzig striker and Bundesliga top-scorer Timo Werner in the past few days, with news claiming that the Germany international wants to play for the Reds.

Since signing for the Gunners in a €6m deal last summer, the Brazilian striker has made a substantial impact at the club in all competitions.

Despite not making his first start in the Premier League until last month, the 18-year-old already has 3 goals in five starts to his name.

His best performances for the club have come in club competitions, though, as it was there that he has mostly been given a chance to impress from the first whistle.

Martinelli has scored 7 goals for the Gunners in only 6 starts in knockout competitions, which include a brace he scored against a young Liverpool side during the League Cup game that Arsenal went on to lose on penalties last month.
