Liverpool offer star new contract, Real Madrid receive injury boost and Barca offered PSG star

The 30-year-old Dutch international, who will be a free agent on the expiry of his contract next summer, has been linked with a move to FC Barcelona.

Liverpool have offered Georgino Wijnaldum a new contract that would see the Dutch international extend his stay at the club beyond next summer, per ESPN.

The 30-year-old midfielder has been linked with a move to Barcelona, whose manager Ronald Koeman is reportedly a huge fan of the Dutchman from their days together at the Netherlands national team.

Barca tried to carry out his signing this summer, but Liverpool decided not to sell the midfielder despite bringing in Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich. The Spaniard, who is currently out due to injury, plays in the same position as Wijnaldum and was thought to be his replacement at the club.

Calcio Mercato reports that the Catalan giants aren’t the only side interested in the Dutch midfielder’s signature. Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan are also keeping tabs on Wijnaldum and might try to strike a pre-contract agreement with the player in January.

The French striker had picked up a knock during his side’s 4-1 La Liga defeat at Valencia before the international break.

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has returned to training and is in contention for his side’s weekend clash with Villarreal, reports BE Soccer.

The 32-year-old French striker, who has been Madrid’s top-scorer with six goals in all competitions, suffered a muscular injury during his side’s shock 4-1 defeat to Valencia before the international break. Benzema was immediately subbed off amid fears that he was facing a spell on the sidelines.

However, the 6’ 1’’ striker has returned to training ahead of schedule and is all but guaranteed to be in the squad for Real’s next midweek’s clash with Inter Milan, though it is expected that Benzema will also play a few minutes against Villarreal at the weekend.

Los Blancos currently sit at 4th place in La Liga and are four points behind surprising league leaders Real Sociedad, albeit with a game in hand.

The 27-year-old Germany international will be a free agent upon the expiry of his contract with the Parc des Princes outfit next summer.

Julian Draxler will be offered to Barcelona in the January transfer window as the midfielder would love to play in La Liga after leaving Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent next summer, per Don Balon.

The 27-year-old Germany international is a highly versatile player who can play both in the middle of the park as well as on either wing. Draxler can also play in the role just behind the striker and the former Wolfsburg man has made one appearance as a centre-forward for PSG this season too.

Despite his utility for the club, Thomas Tuchel’s side are not too keen at extending the contract of the player they signed for €42m in 2016. The midfielder is reportedly well aware of this and has already given his representatives the green light to plot his next move.

However, the Spanish news outlet further reports that as things stand, Barca won’t be making their move for the attacking midfielder, which is understandable given that Draxler has seen his four-and-a-half-year stay in Paris married by injuries.
