Liverpool set to battle with Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig for transfer of Bundesliga star
The 23-year-old has 7 goals and 3 assists for Werder Bremen this season

Amidst reports linking the reigning European champions to RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner, it seems that the 23-year-old isn’t the only German on the Reds’ transfer radar.

Liverpool are facing competition from Bundesliga sides Borussia Dortmund, and RB Leipzig as the Reds chase the summer signing of Milot Rashica from Werder Bremen.

The soon-to-be Premier League champions are reportedly in the market for a forward that could provide cover to their front three next season.

The likes of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, and Sadio Mane have been firing on all cylinders this season, as the Reds’ trio has scored 42 goals so far in all competitions so far this campaign.

Jurgen Klopp is reportedly keen to bring in a new forward that could come in and replace any of his side’s front three should they succumb to an injury or fall out of form next term.

According to a report from German news outlet DeichStube, the Premier League leaders, alongside Dortmund and Leipzig, are keeping tabs on the Kosovo international.

This report has come after Bild reported earlier this month that Klopp had included the 23-year-old’s name in his list of targets for next season. Bild also claimed back then that the Reds had sent their scouts to Kosovo to watch Rashica in action for his national side.

Provided both these reports are accurate, and the three big European sides are indeed interested in acquiring the player’s services, it would be hugely difficult for his current team Werder Bremen to hold on to the attacker beyond this summer.

That’s mainly because despite the forward’s 7 goals and 3 assists for his side, Die Werderaner currently find themselves at 17th place in the Bundesliga table. Florian Kohfeldt’s men have lost five games on the spin and currently find themselves five points off of safety.

Consequently, provided they aren’t able to do the unthinkable and get relegated from the German top-tier in May, Rashica would surely be tempted by a move away from the club.

Who is Liverpool transfer target Milot Rashica?

Since joining Bremen from Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem on a four-and-a-half-year deal in January 2018, the 23-year-old has set Bundesliga alight with his performances.

In the 2019/20 season, Rashica has spent the majority of his time on the pitch on the left-hand side of the attack, using the space afforded to him on the left flank to create some distance between him and his marker and pick-up speed in one-on-one situations.

People who have watched him play compare the 23-year-old to former Arsenal and Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez. The forward’s ability to retain his composure during finishing and play across the front line, as well as the stocky build has earned him that comparison.

What is more, of all the non-No.9 forwards who have found the back of the net in Europe’s top-five leagues in 2019, only four have a better minute-per-goals ration than that of the Bremen No.7, who managed to beat the goalkeeper once every 145 minutes in the previous calendar year.

Consequently, if Klopp could use his connections in German football to bring the Kosovo International to the Merseyside, he would undoubtedly be one of the best bargain signings that the club has completed under his tutelage.
