Man City star breaches social-distancing rules, Spurs identify Harry Kane backup, and Klopp gives Liverpool title warning

According to the new social distancing rules that are in effect in England, nobody could exercise with people from another household.

Manchester City star Phil Foden apparently breached the new social distancing protocol by engaging with the members of the public on a beach in Merseyside over the weekend.

The 21-year-old England international was photographed being challenged by those around him to a kick-about and he took up the challenge, as per the Daily Mail. He then ended up posing for a photo with them as all of them stood on the sands.

Premier League players have been advised under the ‘Project Restart’ protocol that they have to maintain social distancing at all times apart from the contact training sessions. They have also been told to not go to shops as they are identified as high-risk areas.

Aside from that, the new rules outlined by the British Government last week have banned interaction with people that are not from one’s household. The report claims that Man City will speak to Foden and impress upon the youngster the importance of following the guidelines.

Amid news linking the England international Kane with a summer move to Manchester United, Tottenham have reportedly identified the man they want as his back-up.

Tottenham Hotspur have identified Rennes striker M’Baye Niang as the man who could play second-fiddle to Harry Kane at the club, with L’Equipe reporting that Jose Mourinho’s side are on the hunt of a a backup to the England international.

Niang has been one of the most in-form players in the Ligue 1 over the past two seasons, scoring 14 goals in all competitions in the 2018/19 campaign before notching another 15 in the 2019/20 season before it was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The report further adds that Spurs aren’t the only club who are interested in the player’s signature. Fellow French outfit Marseille are also keeping tabs on the 25-year-old who spent six months on loan in the Premier League for Watford in the second half of the 2017/18 season.

It is to be noted that despite searching for strikers who could bulk-up their squad, Spurs have no intention of letting Kane leave this summer. Their pursuit of Niang is predicated on the fact that the Senegal international would play second fiddle to Kane at the club.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has warned his side’s rivals that the Reds won’t ease up and take their foot off the pedal after sealing the Premier League title.

The reigning European champions are just two Premier League victories away from securing the club’s first league title in 30 years. They could be crowned champions as early as on the restart weekend provided Arsenal defeat Manchester City when both the sides meet on Friday 16 June.

However, Klopp isn’t getting carried away with all the title talk and as per his comments won’t allow his players to do so as well. The German told BBC that his side would want to go for all the 27 points that are ‘left for us’.
