After scoring only 10 goals in their first eight games of the 2020/21 Premier League campaign, Pep Guardiola’s side have turned their attentions to the England international.
Manchester City have turned their attentions to Harry Kane after deciding not to pursue the signature of Lionel Messi, reports The Independent.
The 2018/19 Premier League champions have endured an average few months in front of goal in the opening quarter of the ongoing season. City have scored only 10 goals in their first eight games of the PL season and haven’t managed to score more than one goal in a game since October.
Last time City scored more than a single goal in a Premier League game was in their 5-2 defeat at the hands of Premier League newcomers Leeds United at Elland Road at the end of October. Since then, they have managed only 4 goals in their subsequent five games in the competition.
Little wonder, then, that Pep Guardiola is aiming to bring in one of the most in-form strikers in the English top-flight to the Etihad Stadium. Kane has seven goals to his name already this season and has provided another nine assists to his teammates.
Real Madrid are facing competition from Juventus and Manchester United for £62million-rated Rennes ace Eduardo Camavinga, per The Sun.
Los Blancos manager Zinedine Zidane is reportedly a huge fan of the 18-year-old and wants him to sign for the club next summer. The Real Madrid manager has watched Camavinga come through the ranks of Rennes and has been impressed by what he has seen from the teenager.
However, Zidane isn’t the only manager of a top European club who has been keeping tabs on the highly-rated Rennes ace. His Red Devils counterpart Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is also a massive admirer of Camavinga and would like to sign him for the Old Trafford outfit at the end of this season.
Similar aspirations are being harbored by Juventus sporting directors Pavel Nedved and Fabio Paratici, with Tuttosport reporting that the Old Lady would want to sign Camavinga as a replacement for Paul Pogba, who the Serie A champions reckon would cost too much.
Having accumulated nine points from their first three games of the competition, the Catalan giants are sitting comfortably at the top spot in Group G.
Lionel Messi and Frenkie de Jong aren’t a part of the Barcelona squad that will travel to Ukraine to face Dynamo Kyiv in the Champions League on Tuesday, Ronald Koeman has confirmed.
The Dutch manager made this revelation while insisting that it was the club’s ‘relatively comfortable’ position at the top of Group G, and not any injury concerns, that allowed him to give the duo a much-needed rest.
Koeman explained Messi’s omission by stating that the Argentina international ‘had a long journey back’ after representing his national side in the World Cup qualifiers in South America.
The 33-year-old forward was involved in a double-header against Bolivia during the recently concluded international break before undertaking a 12-hour air journey to reach Barcelona in the early hours of last Wednesday.
