Man City Vs Man Utd preview, team news, and probable starting lineups
City are looking to book their place in the Carabao Cup final for the third successive season

Pep Guardiola’s men are coming into this game with a two-goal cushion that they accumulated by defeating the Red Devils 3-1 in the first leg of this season’s Carabao Cup semi-final.

Manchester City will host Manchester United in the 2nd leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.

Having defeated United 3-1 in the first leg of this fixture, the home side are coming into this game as heavy favorites as they look to book their third-successive appearance in the final.

Goals from Bernardo Silva, Riyad Mahrez and an own goal from Andreas Pereira put City just one step short of lifting their second silverware of the season.

While Marcus Rashford did score to reduce the deficit to two goals, it would take a monumental effort from the Red Devils to overturn a two-goal deficit on Wednesday.

Man City are coming into this game on the back of a commanding 4-0 victory against lower league opposition Fulham in the FA Cup.

Guardiola opted to rest both Kevin De Bryune and Raheem Sterling for his side’s victory at the weekend but is expected to field the duo in the midweek.

Aymeric Laporte has returned from his long-term injury to give his side a huge boost but his manager might decide against rushing him in the starting XI after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is currently dealing with an unenviable injury situation as he has six players ruled out for Wednesday night’s fixture.

Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford, and Scott McTominay will be the most notable absentees for United versus City as neither of the three stands any chance to make a comeback in time for this game.

Although Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero are both in the form of their lives, their manager might opt for the Argentine to lead the Man City attack line in the mid-week.

The Spaniard might also choose to leave the in-form Riyad Mahrez on the bench, with the Algerian expected to lose his place to Bernardo Silva in City’s starting XI.

Solskjaer doesn’t have the luxury of nominating Rashford in his starting XI, with Anthony Martial expected to lead the line for United on Wednesday.

Expected Man City starting lineup vs Man Utd: Bravo; Mendy, Garcia, Fernandinho, Walker; Silva, Rodri, De Bruyne; Sterling, Aguero, Silva

Expected Man Utd starting lineup vs Man City: De Gea; Williams, Maguire, Lindelof, Wan-Bissaka; Fred, Matic; James, Mata, Greenwood; Martial
