The 19-year-old Red Bull Salzburg striker has attracted transfer interest from the likes of Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona this season.

Man United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that the club are interested in signing transfer target Erling Haaland from Red Bull Salzburg in the future.

The Norwegian manager was speaking to the press ahead after his side’s routine 2-0 victory over Colchester United in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup.

Solskjaer has managed Haaland back when the duo were both at Norwegian club FK Molde, with Man United fans hopeful that he’d use his relationship with the player to convince him to a move to the Old Trafford.

However, even though Solskjaer has admitted that the club would look to sign the teenage sensation, it won’t be easy for Man United to complete the transfer of Haaland as European heavyweights Real Madrid and Barcelona are also reportedly keeping tabs on the player.

Speaking to Viasport after his side’s victory over Colchester United in the Carabao Cup, Solskjaer admitted he liked the playing style of Haaland.

‘He is a player I like. We are looking for good players all the time,’ Solskjaer told Viasport.

‘Erling has had a good development, so he has to develop further wherever he decides.

‘I don’t need to talk so much about him, but we as a team always look for players who can complement the others we have, and then we see what we end up with.’

Man United are looking to strengthen in the January transfer window after a lackluster start to the 2019/20 campaign.

Metro claims that Man United are confident of completing the transfer of Haaland next month, though the club feels they may have to loan him back until the end of the ongoing season.

The report from the English media outlet further claims that having previously worked under Solskjaer, the 19-year-old striker is keen to once again join his forces with the Norwegian manager.

Haaland’s reported interest in a move to Old Trafford won’t be enough to convince RB Salzburg to let him leave during the middle of the season.

The Austrian club wants to retain his services until next summer, with United getting increasingly convinced that they’d have to insert a loan-back option in any deal which they would strike with Salzburg for the transfer of the striker.
