The 31-year-old combative Chilean midfielder has been unhappy over the game time afforded to him by the Catalan giants this season.
Manchester United are set to rival Inter Milan for the signature of £17m rated Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal, with the Catalan giants willing to offload the Chilean in the ongoing January transfer window.
The report of the player potentially leaving the club this month has come barely a fortnight after Vidal sued Barcelona over what he claimed were unpaid bonuses from last year.
His lawyers filed a complaint against the Camp Nou giants in December stating that the club hasn’t paid Vidal all of the £3.5m they believe the club owes Vidal for appearance bonuses.
The player and his representatives claim that having played in 53 games in all competitions last season, the Chilean activated the clause in his contract which claimed that he would get appearance-related bonuses if he featured in 60% of the club’s games.
