Man United transfer news – Latest on Sancho and Kane pursuit, Barcelona’s advances for youngster and more

Although many Red Devils’ fans expect their side to sign the Borussia Dortmund winger, it is now being claimed that Sancho won’t be coming to Old Trafford in the summer.

Manchester United are ready to drop their pursuit of Jadon Sancho and Harry Kane and put their trust in the forwards that are already at the club.

Daily Mail reports that although United retain an interest in Tottenham striker Kane, they won’t even consider paying the £200m amount that would persuade Spurs chief Daniel Levy to sell the North London outfit’s prized asset.

United believe that in Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood they have the most potent attacking force in the Premier League. That may seem to be a huge statement but appears true once one considers their combined stats.

The trio have played 20 fewer games than Liverpool’s front three of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane this season but have managed to score only two fewer goals (47) between them than that of the Reds’ attacking trinity who have scored 49 goals between them so far this season.

Despite the fact that the 21-year-old has featured sparingly for the Red Devils since his £19m move from Porto in 2018, United aren’t ready to cash in on him just yet.

Manchester United would reject any offers they receive from Barcelona and PSG for young full-back Diogo Dalot in the summer transfer window, ESPN claims.

The 21-year-old hasn’t been a regular part of United’s matchday squads since his move from Porto in the summer of 2018, with Dalot making only 33 appearances for the Red Devils during his first two seasons in the Premier League.

Part of the reason why the Portuguese hasn’t gotten much game time lies in the unfortunate injuries that he has suffered during his time in England. The arrival of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and the excellent form he has displayed in United colors has further restricted opportunities for Dalot.

However, his manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still sees the Portuguese as a valuable asset for the club given his ability to play on both sides of the back four. The Norwegian has thrown the gauntlet to Dalot and has challenged him to fight for his place in the starting XI.

Even though the youngster is still 17-years-old, his performances have attracted him the transfer interest of a host of top European clubs.

Manchester United are tracking Sporting Lisbon left-back Nuno Mendes, with the youngster being touted as ‘one of the best U-19s left-backs in Europe’ by his club president.

Mendes, 17, is yet to make a senior appearance for the Portuguese side but has impressed with his performances for Sporting’s youth teams.

United are one of the sides impressed by what they have seen from the defender who has the same agent in Miguel Pinho as January signing Bruno Fernandes.

Portuguese daily Record [via Daily Mail] report that United were hopeful of signing Mendes when they concluded the deal for Fernandes at the start of this year.
