The Old Trafford outfit are currently sitting at 15th place in the Premier League table after winning just 2 of their opening six games of the domestic top-flight season.
Manchester United have approached Mauricio Pochettino to enquire about the possibility of him replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the Red Devils’ next manager, per Manchester Evening News.
Pochettino is reportedly keen to take over the reins at Old Trafford almost a year after he was sacked by the North London club. Pochettino led Tottenham to the Champions League final in 2018/19 season but was relieved off his duties after the club’s underwhelming start to the following campaign.
It is being reported that Solskjaer had the support of United’s hierarchy prior to his side’s dismal 2-1 defeat to Istanbul Basaksehir in the Champions League on Wednesday night, with the Old Trafford higher-ups wary of parting company with the Norwegian so early in the season.
However, if the Red Devils end up losing at Everton this weekend, they could go into next week’s international break 17th in the Premier League table; a period that top-flight clubs have previously used to dispense with under-fire managers.
Liverpool and Manchester City are in a four-way race to secure the signature of David Alaba on a free transfer next summer, according to reports in Spain.
The Bayern Munich centre-back, who was previously in negotiations with the Bundesliga champions to extend his stay at the club beyond next summer, is now on the verge of leaving Allianz Stadium after Bayern withdrew their offer of a new contract.
Ligalive reported earlier this week that the 28-year-old’s wage demands forced Bayern to shelve their plans of offering him a new deal, with Alaba slating Bayern president Herbert Hainer for revealing ‘internal stuff’ about their negotiations to the press.
And the Spanish news outlet AS is now reporting that Liverpool, Manchester City, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are all expected to make a move for the Austrian next summer.
After missing out on Inter Milan centre-back Milan Skriniar over the summer, Jose Mourinho has now set sights on another highly-rated Serie A centre-back.
Tottenham Hotspur are keen on securing the signature of Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic, per Corriere dello Sport [via Goal].
Spurs were keen on signing Milenkovic’s fellow Serie A centre-back Milan Skriniar in the summer but missed out on the 25-year-old after they refused to meet Inter’s €60m valuation of the Slovakian.
Milenkovic is one of the most highly-rated defenders in Serie A and has been dubbed as the ‘next Nemanja Vidic’ by those who regularly see the 23-year-old play in the Italian top-flight.
Spurs aren’t the only side interested in the player’s signature, though, as Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid and Manchester United are also keeping tabs on the Serbia international.
