The Camp Nou outfit were on the verge of offloading Dembele this summer before the Frenchman refused to leave the club.
Manchester United are looking to strike a swap deal with Barcelona for Ousmane Dembele that would see Paul Pogba moving to Spain, per Don Balon.
Dembele was on the verge of joining the Red Devils this summer after Barcelona gave him the green light to end his stay at Camp Nou. But the French winger chose to stay put at the Catalan giants despite being reportedly told by manager Ronald Koeman that he was not in his plans.
Barcelona’s inability to get rid of the 23-year-old ended up costing them the signing of Memphis Depay. The Lyon forward was all set to pack his bags for Spain, but Barca pulled the plug on his deal as, without selling Dembele, they weren’t in the position to finance the Dutch winger’s signing.
However, if the recent reports in the Spanish press are accurate, Barca might be handed an appetizing opportunity of swapping one France World Cup winner for another, with Man Utd executive vice-chairman keen on offloading Pogba to arrest his side’s slide in the Premier League table.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has hinted that ‘fed up’ William Saliba could leave the Gunners in the January transfer window, per goal.
Ligalive reported yesterday that the 19-year-old is frustrated at the lack of game time coming his way since he joined the North London outfit this summer. Saliba is yet to make a single senior appearance for his new side since making his £25m move from St. Etienne.
“I am fed up with the situation because as you could see we tried to find a way in the last few days [of the transfer window] to give him some football,” claimed Arteta.
The Gunners boss also replied in the affirmative when asked whether a loan move in January was a possibility for the 19-year-old. He further claimed that the club will sit down the players in the next few weeks to review his situation and plan the best route ahead.
Despite being the club’s landmark summer signing in 2019, the French midfielder has fallen down the pecking order at Spurs this season.
Barcelona are considering making a move for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele in the January transfer window, per Fabrizio Romano.
Spurs paid a club-record transfer fee of €60m to secure the signing of the 23-year-old from Lyon in the summer of 2019. His arrival at the club excited fans at the time who expected Tottenham to build on from their strong position of Champions League finalists.
Fifteen months on, Ndombele finds himself staring up at the pecking order of the club, with Jose Mourinho reportedly adamant that the Frenchman doesn’t have what it takes to adapt to the demands of the English top-flight.
However, they’d have to wait until next summer to offload Ndombele as Barca aren’t keen on bringing in the midfielder in January, with the Camp Nou outfit more keen to add the 23-year-old to their ranks before the start of the 2021/22 campaign.
