Man Utd transfer news: Pogba sends message to Dembele, Roma want another United star and more

The Red Devils have turned their attentions to the Barcelona forward after Borussia Dortmund rejected their latest €100m bid for Jadon Sancho.

Paul Pogba is privately encouraging Ousmane Dembele to join him at Manchester United this summer, reports Mundo Deportivo.

Reports have claimed that Dembele’s preference is to remain at the Camp Nou and become an integral part of Ronald Koeman’s side, with the new Barcelona boss also refusing to give up on the winger the Catalan giants signed for £135.5m in 2017.

But United have expedited their efforts to sign the France international after seeing their €100m bid for Sancho rejected by Dortmund. Dembele is on the Red Devils’ transfer shortlist alongside Watford forward Ismaila Sarr and Fiorentina winger Federico Chiesa.

The Red Devils made enquiries for Sarr over the past few weeks but refused to pay his side’s £40m asking price of the Senegal international. Their move for Chiesa, meanwhile, never got off the ground after the Serie A outfit reportedly rejected United’s loan offer for the Italian.

Top News 2: Roma want Diogo Dalot on loan

Following the arrival of Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace last summer, Dalot has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

Roma are interested in securing the services of Diogo Dalot on a season-long loan from Manchester United, per transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

The 21-year-old Portuguese right-back was named in United’s starting XI for their 3-0 victory over Brighton in the Carabao Cup earlier this week. But his path to the first team in the Premier League has been blocked since the arrival of Wan-Bissaka last summer.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer prefers the England international over his Portuguese counterpart in both the Premier League as well as European competitions and is keen to cash-in on Dalot to raise funds for new signings before the closing of transfer window next Monday.

But despite’s Roma’s professed interest in the right-back, the chances of Dalot heading the Old Trafford exit door this summer look pretty slim. United are at the moment unwilling to let Dalot leave on loan as they hope to sell him on a permanent deal.

The 33-year-old Uruguay international has been a free agent since leaving Paris Saint-Germain on the expiry of his contract with the Les Parisiens this summer.

Edinson Cavani’s huge wage demands and desire for a long-term contract are threatening his proposed move to Manchester United, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has told United Report.

The transfer guru further added that while the Uruguay international has been offered to United by his agent, the communication between both parties isn’t advanced at this stage, with United also looking at other options.

Cavani, 33, has been a free agent since leaving PSG on the expiry of his contract with the French side earlier this summer. He has previously been linked with Real Madrid and was also on the transfer radar of Atletico Madrid before Diego Simeone’s side signed Luis Suarez from Barcelona.

The Uruguay international’s availability may whet the appetite of the Red Devils who are in the transfer market for a new striker.
