Their record goal-scorer is expected to be back
After overseeing a drab 0-0 draw with Manchester United at the weekend, the Citizens will be looking to get back to winning ways when they host newcomers West Brom on Tuesday night.
The 32-year-old Argentina international didn’t feature for Pep Guardiola’s side in their 0-0 draw with Manchester United at the weekend, with reports at the time claiming that gastroenteritis kept City’s record goal-scorer out of the Derby.
His return to the side couldn’t come earlier for City who have struggled for goals so far this season. The 2018/19 champions have managed only 17 goals in 11 Premier League games this season and are currently the joint-10th highest-scoring side in the English top-flight.
Their poor form in front of opposition's goal could be gauged from the fact that the likes of Aston Villa, Crystal Palace – teams who are below City in the table, have managed more goals this season than Pep Guardiola's expensively assembled front line.
Aside from the absence of the club's record goal-scorer, the poor form of Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus has also allowed City's opponents to frustrate them. Both the players have been well below par this season and have only 6 goals between them in all competitions
But with their Tuesday’s guests shipping in more goals than any other side across the top division of English football, the return of Aguero coupled with the excellent form of Riyad Mahrez might see Pep Guardiola’s attacking force unleash goals on the unsuspecting Baggies on Tuesday.
