Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is plotting a double raid on Tottenham to bolster his options and add depth to his side, as per the Daily Star.

Manchester United are reportedly weighing up making a move for Tottenham duo Lucas Moura and Eric Dier in the upcoming months.

None of the two players identified by the Red devils as their key transfer targets have been regular starters under Mauricio Pochettino this season.

Given that Spurs  have already brought-in the likes of Ndombele to replace Dier, his absence from the Tottenham first team is easier to justify than that of the former PSG forward.

The Brazilian was an integral part of the Spurs’ squad which reached the Champions League final of last season as it was his hat-trick which helped the North London club overcome Ajax in the semi-final stage.

How will the duo fit-in?

After a summer transfer window which failed to address the key deficiencies in the Manchester United forward line, the arrival of the duo will undoubtedly be a huge boost for the club.

Lucas Moura, in particular, is a type of player the Red devils’ fans would love to see. His is quick, direct and plays on the shoulder of the last defender. Plus, as suggested by his brief spell at Tottenham, Lucas has the traits to be a prolific goal-scorer.

If the move does end up materializing for the Brazilian, he’d most likely play on the right-side of United’s attack. With Jesse Lingard out of form and Juan Mata on the wrong-side of 30, the 27-year-old won’t have to do much to earn a place on that side of the pitch.

Similar is the case with Eric Dier. Although he has faced problems trying to earn a place in the Tottenham starting XI, the form of the likes of Matic and Fred means that the Englishman would be above them in the pecking order.

Yet another factor which would justify United moving to secure the services of Dier is his age. With him turning only 26 next January, the defensive midfielder could secure his spot in the United starting XI for years to come.

Even though he was handed a new Tottenham contract in July, one cannot rule out the possibility of Lucas Moura leaving Spurs in the coming months.

Spurs were ready to let the Brazilian go within months of his heroics in last season’s Champions League semi-final. They were ready to let Lucas leave for the Camp Nou provided Barcelona paid a €50m transfer fee.

Given the financial muscle of the Red devils and their need for an attacking player, nobody can deny that they could meet Spurs’ valuation for a player who has already proved himself in the Premier League.

Eric Dier, meanwhile, can be an even easier player to get for the Red devils. After their move to the new stadium, Tottenham are in dire need of raising more finances to streamline their operations.

Also, with both Ndombele and Sissoko ahead of the 25-year-old in the pecking order, Daniel Levy would feel that the club has much to gain and little to lose by sanctioning his move for a substantial sum.
