Messi contemplating Barcelona exit, Wolves interested in Sevilla winger, and Man United’s new signing

Following the Argentine’s meeting with new Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman on Thursday, all four Spanish sports newspapers dedicated their front covers to his situation at the club.

Lionel Messi is still thinking of leaving Barcelona after meeting new manager Ronald Koeman on Thursday, as per reports in the Spanish media [via Reuters].

Marca noted in its Friday’s edition that the Argentine told Koeman he was more likely to leave the Camp Nou giants than to stay, while Mundo Deportivo declared on its cover that Messi wasn’t seeing his future clearly, before stating that his €700m release clause might not allow him to leave immediately.

The 33-year-old joined Barcelona at the age of 13 and has been the most decorated player in the club’s history with 33 trophies to his name. He has also been the club’s top-scorer with a record 634 goals in only 730 games for the Catalan giants.

However, with Messi now into the final year of the 2-year contract he signed with the Catalan outfit last summer, doubts have grown about his future at the club, with last week’s 8-2 hammering at the hands of Bayern Munich raising suspicions that Barca won’t be able to hold on to the forward for long.

The 26-year-old Argentina international has scored 16 goals and provided 5 assists in 43 games in all competitions for Sevilla this season.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in Sevilla winger Lucas Ocampos – the man who dumped them out of the Europa League last week, reports Sky Sports.

The Argentina international scored what proved to be a decisive goal during Sevilla’s 1-0 victory over the Premier League outfit in the competition’s quarter-final last week.

Ocampos’ performances since moving from Monaco at the start of last season have seen the 26-year-old getting linked with several of Europe’s elite clubs, but Sevilla are yet to receive an approach for him.

His potential signing by Wolves would undoubtedly raise questions about the future of Adama Traore at the Molineux, as the 24-year-old Spaniard is attracting interest from home and abroad after a breakthrough 2019/20 season.

Top News 3: Who is Marc Jurado? The young full-back who left Barca to join Man United

After rejecting Barcelona’s three year contract offer, the 16-year-old right back is set to follow in the footsteps of Gerard Pique who made the same journey in 2004.

Manchester United’s acquisition of Marc Jurado, the 16-year-old right-back whom Barcelona were desperate to keep after seeing him come through their academy, is a huge coup on the part of the Red Devils as they prepare a side for the future.

Jurado was part of Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy for the last nine years and became an important part of the club’s Juvenil A side over the past few seasons. Barca’s higher-ups expected him to progress and become a part of their youth side, Barca B, before he decided to join United this summer.

The 16-year-old has all the attributes of a modern-day full back, attacking and defending with equal ferocity while also having an eye for goal. Jurado netted six times for FCB Cadete B during his stay at the club.

Evening Standard further notes that the youngster has the ability to beat opposition players in one-on-one situations and is very good with his passing and link-up play. Little wonder, then, that his previous side are unhappy at having lost him to the Old Trafford giants.
