Manchester United and France midfielder Paul Pogba is unhappy over his decision to extend his stay at the club beyond this summer.

As reported by Spanish news outlet AS, the Frenchman is ruing his choiceof saying no to the likes of Real Madrid and Juventus to play under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the Old Trafford.

Both the clubs were reportedly interested in the French World Cup winner, though neither made a formal bid to United to try and secure his services.

Manchester United were insistent throughout the summer that if Pogba is to leave, they would not sell him for less than £180m, an asking price which put off the potential suitors of the player.

Although he was told earlier in the season that it will be very difficult for Real Madrid to sign Paul Pogba, Zinedine Zidane was adamant of bringing the French World Cup winner to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.

Early on in the summer during a Real Madrid transfer summit held at their preseason base in Montreal, Zidane had made it clear to chairman Fiorentino Perez and director general Jose Angel Sanchez that he expected Pogba to be a Real Madrid player before the start of new season.

However, much to his chagrin, the French manager was told that having already spent over 300m on new signings, the club wasn’t in the position to spend big on Pogba.

His decision not to look elsewhere meant that even with an aging midfield of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, the Spanish side weren’t able to bring in a replacement.

What next for the French midfielder?

With the transfer window now almost closed, Pogba has no option but to once again give his best for the Red Devils, and recent history of the player shows that he’d do exactly that.

Even though he was much criticized by the likes of Graeme Souness and Jamie Carragher last season, Pogba was head and shoulder above his Manchester United teammates in an otherwise lack luster campaign.

Not only did the Frenchman score more goals but Pogba also provided more assists than and hit the woodwork more times than any of his Manchester United teammates.

Consequently, while the Spanish media might think otherwise, Manchester United fans have no reason to worry that Pogba would down his tools after not getting his desired move.
