Perez prepare six-man shortlist to replace Zidane, Barca dealt Ansu Fati injury blow and more news

After his team’s average start to both the domestic and European campaigns, pressure has piled up on the Los Blancos boss in recent weeks.

Florentino Perez has prepared a six-man shortlist to replace Zinedine Zidane if Real Madrid’s form fails to improve in the coming weeks, reports Don Balon.

The Spanish champions were soundly defeated by an in-form Valencia side on Sunday and currently sit four points behind leaders Real Sociedad, albeit with a game in hand. They have no such leeway in their Champions League group where Madrid sit just one place above the bottom of Group B.

Little wonder, then, that the club’s trigger-happy president has reportedly started looking at alternatives should Zidane’s 2nd homecoming doesn’t go as planned and the club continues to suffer a slump in form both domestically and in Europe.

Among the names the Spanish news outlet claims Florentino Perez is currently looking at include several heavy weights including Mauricio Pochettino, Masimilliano Allegri, Joachim Low and Laurent Blanc, with Madrid legend Raul and ex Valencia boss Marcelino also on the six-man shortlist.

The 18-year-old winger had made a fabulous start to the new season by managing five goals in 10 games across all competitions for the Camp Nou outfit.

Barcelona have been dealt a huge injury blow after the Spanish club confirmed Monday that Ansu Fati is facing up to four months on the sidelines, per Daily Mail [via AS].

Ronald Koeman’s men ended the weekend on a high-note as they put five goals past a hapless Real Betis side that had come into this fixture as the league leaders, but Barcelona’s victory was marred by the injury to their teenage prodigy.

Fati suffered a knee injury just after the half-time and was imminently subbed off for Lionel Messi who had started the game on the bench. The 18-year-old was in visible pain on the pitch and visited a traumatologist a day later to assess the extent of his injury.

He is now awaiting surgery on the damaged meniscus in his right-knee and consequently faces up to four months on the sidelines, if everything goes to plan.

Top News 3: Ansu Fati injury has forced Barca to move for Memphis Depay in January

Multiple reports over the past few weeks had claimed that the Catalan giants had decided to abdandon their pursuit of the Dutchman after failing to sign him over the summer.

Barcelona will try and sign Memphis Depay in January after it was confirmed Monday that Ansu Fati is facing a length injury spell on the sidelines, per Sport.

The Spanish news publication further claims that the interim set up that is managing things at the Camp Nou outfit after the resignation of Josep Maria Bartomeu would give the green light to a move for the Dutchman, pending certain conditions are met.

It claims that the club will only move for Depay, for whom they have a deal in place since the summer, if it can offload fringe players in the winter transfer window. Barca believe they’d be able to sign the player on a cheap in January given that his Lyon contract will expire next June.

The Camp Nou outfit are also reportedly looking at ways to restructure the deal and soften the blow on their finances, including the addition of performance related clauses in the contract.
