Mauricio Pochettino is facing tough circumstances. The former Espanyol manager dropped both Christian Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen to the bench as the Spurs lost 1:0 to Newcastle.
The Spurs boss is unhappy about the English transfer window alraedy closed while the European window mostly stays open un til 2nd September. Pochettino indicated that there is still a possibility of players leaving the club and that factor is affecting the performance of his team.
“It’s been six years at Spurs, and right now I am working with the most unsettled group of players,” he added. When Pochettino was asked whether the Newcastle match was the last game of Eriksen in the Spurs shirt, he replied that he would not know as the situation is too difficult. The Denmark international did not start a single game this season. Next up for Spurs is Arsenal, and it remains to be seen whether Vertonghen and Eriksen start in the North London Derby.
